    This company made me like engineering again. Great coworkers. Great people to work with. Most managers are also great people

    Hard times with layoffs. bad economy for this company.

    Good learning opportunities. however, many opportunities are not transparent.

    Localized work culture. partial management. no connection with top management. fire fighting and fight for every reason is a common troll

    Avantages

    Company with good transport benefits for the employees. Flexible in the work timing as you are in total control. Most importantly if you can complete the task within the timeline.

    Inconvénients

    Staff morale is low in some business units as the company is shrinking down & relocate them in other countries. In short, some of the jobs were disappearing in the local region. Limited career growth as many old guards had been working for decades in the company. Internal promotion opportunity were very often fill up employing outside people.

    Avantages

    Casual work style. No one gets fired unless your attitude is bad. (Don't say anything against Director or his favorite pets other than that everything you do is OK) Good place to get trained (If sent abroad to other FMC location) and join a competitor company with good pay. Engineers are from IITs, NITs and other good colleges and most managers are from worst colleges in India, so it is easy to fool them. Some... of the managers cabin are always closed so nothing to worry, you can do anything you want.... Nice place to retire, all pay no work. Good place to learn Sycophancy and politics

    Carry on good work and ask some competitor companies (Aker, GE, Magnum etc) to also pay FMC India so that test lab can be established as you are training people for those companies too.

    Avantages

    1.Decent pay 2.Even being in the oil and gas industry, it recruits graduates from aeronautical engg background too. A big plus. 3. Great place to work if you are a Lead Engineer. You just need to focus on number of billing hours of each employee at the end of the month. 4. Young co-workers and hence vibrant environment with decent amount of activities. 5. Work abroad for a short period of time.

    Inconvénients

    1. One man show. Great place to work if you can impress him. 2. Big time nepotism. You will reap rich dividends if you are a girl. This will include team changes of your choice, higher pay, international trips of your choice et cetera. 3. Graduate engineers are recruited from top-colleges but the lead engineers and managers come from local IT companies and don't have basic knowledge. One doesn't have an... engineering degree. 4. Pathetic HR. They are unresponsive and take no steps to reduce attrition. Really small finance team and hence stress on the finance manager. 5. Stress is given on how much you work and not on how good you work. 6. One has to do anything that is thrown at him by the FMC majors like Singapore and Norway. Most of the work is stupid and menial. An employee is not encouraged to challenge or question the locations (customers) no matter how crappy the work is. All that matters is number of billing hours. 7. Lots of employees are jobless. This ruins the work environment. 8. Employee suggestions and complains are scoffed at with sarcasm. 9. More trainings on English and email etiquette than on products and engineering. 10.Indian employees are sent to work at different locations under the cover up "training". They are not trained at all and are made to work instead as the labour cost is less. Abysmally low per-diems. Just enough for bare minimum survival. One employee had his visa rejected because the consulate felt that the per diems were too low for "subsistence" in the United States.

    Avantages

    Opportunities to advance. Training - There are a lot of training classes that you are encouraged to take. There is also a two year training program for new hire engineers.

    Inconvénients

    The majority of the management staff is somewhat younger than what you would expect. There needs to be more experienced and more exposed management.

    While I think that FMC Technologies does a great job of training new hires, there is a problem with retaining employees. The best way to fix this is having more competitive salaries.
