Je travaille chez Flight Centre Travel Group à plein temps (Pendant plus de 3 ans)

    Avantages

Really Awesome perks if you work hard then you get to go on amazing conferences and fams.

It's super easy to get good deals on travel, you can often get tours at 50% off and agent rates at hotels for $80 a night.

    Inconvénients

Very very low wage: it's awesome when you hit your sales goal and get the pay bump. But it's honestly not enough money and many people that work at flight centre deal with mental health issues and substance abuse. it's an extremely stressful job and the low pay makes it so much worse.

    Conseils à la direction

Now that minimum wage has been raised in Canada so should our wages.

J'ai travaillé chez Flight Centre Travel Group en Contrat Permanent (Plus d'un an)

    Avantages

-Great experience in accounting, customer service and travel specific systems
-hotel provided for regional employees when required to travel to the city for work events or training
    -Uniform provided
    -Social events e.g. yearly ball
    -Training opportunities
-Famil opportunities if lucky enough, which is a real privilege.
-price drop protection policy for clients, which is a real advantage to the client if the agent explains it properly
    -no compensation for over time
-expectation of consultants to provide their personal mobile number to ticket centre, so if there are any issues they can be contacted at any time during the day or night.
-Annual leave discouraged and in some cases not permitted for employees in their first year.

    Inconvénients

    -Below minimum wage base salary
-Only 10% of commission made is kept by the consultant, the rest goes to the company. One particular supplier pays over 40% commission to other agencies, however Flight Centre keeps over a 50% cut and their employees are only paid just over 20%. Employees are not aware of this, I only found this out after I left.
-Expectation to use personal mobile to be available to clients 24/7, business cards unable to be printed unless personal mobile number is on there.
-Ignoring of work place bullying. Allowing employees to remain in the company who bully others without any reprimand.
    -No exit interview.
-Employees who engage in unethical or sneaky methods to make their commission are much more valued than those who do not, as they are making the money. Due to wage structure though, these practices are the only way for a consultant to actually reach their KPI's, meaning those who place more value on genuine customer service and ethical operation work at a financial loss with added pressure from management.
-Consultants have any mistakes to bookings deducted from their own commission regardless of circumstances.
-Difference in price beats also comes from consultants commission. This policy is relatively new and base wage was raised by a few hundred dollars to cover any financial loss to the consultant, however in many cases the amount lost through price beats outweighs the wage increase. Consultants are then additionally reprimanded for not meeting KPI's, even though they have lost in some cases hundreds of dollars of commission to price beats.

    Conseils à la direction

-Raise base wage to compensate for low commission rates from suppliers. Employees will not stoop to rip of clients if they can actually live off their wage.
-increase in base wage depending on time at company to discourage such high turnover.
-Practice what you preach when it comes work life balance-pay your consultants for their over time, allow them to take annual leave without any strings attached and provide a mobile phone for those who wish to be available to their clients 24\7.
    - DO NOT IGNORE WORK PLACE BULLYING for the fact that these employees may be of high financial value Every one has the right to feel safe and comfortable at work, regardless of how much they make.
-Show your employees you value them by taking action against issues like work place bullying, and providing exit interviews.
-Do not charge your employees for their mistakes or price beats, have it covered by the store. If employees are not supplementing price beats out of their own pay, then they have no excuse to deny clients the price beats they are entitled to.
-Encourage a team environment rather than individual competition, which only results in unethical practices and toxic work environments.
    -Value your clients.

    Inconvénients

Do pay rates, especially for Novice's meet minimum wage standards? I think not and neither does the Fair Work Ombudsman.
FC is a great place to work but don't screw your employees and pay below award minimums

    Conseils à la direction

just comply with the legal standards - its in your interest to keep people and avoid bad publicity
