    Avantages

I have been working here for 4 months as an Internal Recruiter and I can honestly say I definitely made the right choice. I absolutely love working here. I received a very in-depth and tailored induction program and am continuously learning new things about recruitment and the parcel industry. The culture, the values and the people make it a brilliant place to work.

    Avantages

The business works as a team. Everyone knows the goals the company are aiming for and how they fit in to the plan to achieve those goals. Working in a role where I spend as much time in depots and hubs as I do in head office, I get a real feeling of the wider team and it really feels as though the whole business I interact with, see me as part of their team.

    Inconvénients

The business is customer focused and as such during busy times this will mean working longer hours to ensure we are delivering. I only list this as a con because it may not be for everyone. For me, having always worked in roles with delivery as the key criteria, this is not an issue and is a given.

    Conseils à la direction

Continue with the drive on engagement with the staff as this is clearly showing results.

    Avantages

    Struggling to think of any

    Inconvénients

I started Hermes working weekends to earn some extra cash to supplement my normal income. Wow this isn’t worth the stress.
After training you are told that you will be provided with a scanner, which also has route optimisation tools. As it turned out I more often than not had to pick up a scanner from other couriers some living 30-40 minutes away for which you don’t get paid for and you don’t always have route planner so you spend your morning scrambling around trying to find the best route for you.
So on a normal Sunday I had to
Wake up around 7:30 for a 9:30 start - this was so I could download my parcels for the day and optimise myself given that I didn’t have a device that did this. You would then get to the depot and realise half the parcels that you pick up are not in your list so load these at the best point between your route. The depot should open at 9:30 again not always the case some days it’s closer to 10-10:30. Then you can load up in the most practical order perhaps 30-40mins whilst scanning in. Bare in mind I started the day at 7:30 and it is now almost 10:30 on a good day 3 hours with zero pay.
You then proceed to deliver the 60-80 parcels which will take you roughly 4-5 hours. At approximately a pound a parcel bare in mind if you don’t deliver you don’t get paid. For which you would always have 1-5 parcels.

Once all this is done I had to drop the scanner and undelivered parcels at a house 30 minutes away.

    The math:
    Average 70 parcels =£70
Hours worked 7:30- approx 4:30 after dropping parcels etc. 9 hours for £70 . Then consider your petrol maybe 40 or so miles. So Additional miles and potential damage to your car (some delivery routes are unforgiving)

    Conseils à la direction

Clean up your act, employ couriers on a proper living wage with pay per hour also provide the equipment to to the job for a company your size this is quite frankly the most embarrassing part

    Avantages

    Inconvénients

No life work balance,. Long days,. The more you do the more working you get given.

    Conseils à la direction

Manager above RDM's and CRM,s need to look at how staff are being treated. A very divided team. No team spirit. No nurture just bullying to get the job done at any cost to health and hours worked.

I have been in parcels for 20+ years and Hermes has the best induction in the industry. It was over a 4 week period, spent time at other depots and departments. Company very keen on sharing best practice and welcome new ideas. Company very customer centric and at the heart of everything we do. Clear and concise direction as to what is needed from you with autonomy to make your own decisions. It has been a great experience to date.
