Je travaille chez J D Wetherspoon à plein temps (Pendant plus de 3 ans)

    Avantages

You make good friends with the staff and they are the ones you can rely on when the shift gets tough.

Bar Staff incentives on shift, win a free pint or prize brought in by management.

Good rate of pay, 21 years of age and receiving £8.45, more than my friends in other jobs.

    Always busy and not bored

50% on food plus discounted soft/hot drinks whilst on duty or 20% on food and drink whilst off duty.

    Inconvénients

    - Closedowns not the greatest. Grubbiness, floor dirty, not something you want to walk in to. Doesnt help when you have really bad anxiety and paranoia that you go home panicking unable to sleep youve missed something then certain people or managers will purposely rub it in your face.
    - Coming into work in a good mood but being put down by comments of other members of staff, nothing snidy or nasty just people complaining.
    - No communication! People not answering radios but also mix ups of checks, stuff being accidentally cooked off twice or checks rang in incorrectly. Being shouted at for red checks.
    - No compliments or praisal when CQ’s come in. Always “well done to *bar staff name*. No incentive for kitchen staff, left out basically.
    - Long hours. Start at three but sometimes not get out till 2/3 in the morning. Kitchen shutting at 11 but no food comes on for 2 hours on some nights. Having to stand around and do nothing as you arent allowed to take equipment off early.
    - always understaffed, 2 people on a busy fathers day breakfast and told to deal with it and “youre going to get bollocked for the red checks”
    - managers best friend is the office with the door locked on facebook whilst the kitchens 10 off screen and the bars 4 deep.

    Conseils à la direction

Have a kitchen shift leader check kitchens not bar shift leaders, they havent a clue how to cook some items of food!

Close the kitchen at 10 or give it to a managers distression, if its quiet why waste staff hours and energy, use it where its needed.

Allow equipment to come off earlier (providing cooldowns are followed)

    Bring back drinks on us.

Tell area managers to stop being so tight on the hours and give them out to pubs, we may not make the amount they want but they dont see how busy we can get.

Bar office time for management unless theyre doing daily jobs. Remove their phones on shift, if Associates arent allowed their phones, why are managers??

    J'ai travaillé chez J D Wetherspoon à temps partiel (Moins d'un an)

    Avantages

Very friendly, not much of a hierarchy / management are approachable, a lot of students and high workforce turnover so was perfect for me as a student. Flexible approach to shifts, never had any problems with getting paid correctly

    Inconvénients

Probably not very reliable for someone with responsibilities such as children - as a new member of staff I'd often get less hours than I asked for

Je travaille chez J D Wetherspoon à temps partiel (Pendant plus de 5 ans)

    Avantages

You’ll meet some fantastic customers bases and work within excellent teams that support each other. There are bonus incentives and discounts available on and off shift for food and drink. Progression is readily available if you’re willing to fight for it and work hard.

    Inconvénients

A lot of time it feels like you’re skating on thin ice with volumes of staff on shift, wherein the number of people working is not enough

    Conseils à la direction

I think area management are completely out of touch with pub based employees. There is little empathy from AMs and you generally only hear negative, positives are expected, not acknowledged. I think back to the workplace shifts should be a bi-weekly thing for AMs to get stuck into the pubs and enable them to remember how difficult the job can be.
