    Avantages

Your performance at Omnitracs is essentially graded on a Pass/Fail binary scale. When the outcome of exceeding expectations and barely meeting them makes no difference, it leaves little incentive for anyone to try.

If you have other commitments outside of work, Omnitracs will be a perfect fit as there will only be an average of 10-20 hours of work per week, leaving ample time for you to run errands, work on a part time degree or certificate, pick up your kids from school, or work on a side project. Heck, if you have some Netflix shows to catchup, feel free to take advantage of the very high speed internet!

The other grievances here on Glassdoor regarding the below market compensation are unfair. For the amount of work and effort required, the Omnitracs compensation package is actually quite generous.

This may sound like a mockery but it really isn’t. Working at Omnitracs has kept my blood pressure stable, maintained stress at a lowest possible level, and I also made considerable progress working on several personal projects. The truth is, not everyone has to be a winner. It’s alright to be a bystander.

    Inconvénients

By working at Omnitracs, you will become very lazy and complacent. It’s almost like working at a do-nothing government job. I recognize that it’s not suitable for everyone. This is a place where you stagnate when you’re content with your current lifestyle.

J'ai travaillé chez Omnitracs en Contrat Permanent (Pendant plus de 3 ans)

    Avantages

    - great if you are looking for a "lifestyle job"

    - they have innovated by updating the ivory tower concept. It is now just their 14th floor

    - Dallas employees can expect a nice work environment and perks. Remote offices should not expect that.

    Inconvénients

    - the only career progression you should expect is if you are an entry level employee looking to make it to an entry level +1 career level

    - the exec team doesn't even know how to articulate the good things in a way that actually connects with the front line. Cost of living adjustments offered every 18 months don't keep pace with inflation, and are packaged as "merit increases". In other words, kick butt and your real wages won't decrease if you are a top performer. The forced bell curve ensures only 20% will see that.

    - while bonuses get missed year after year due to "performance", the exec vesting schedule for the top 5-8 continues unabated, and they will continue to tell you how everything is great, and working, and just like they planned. Just not...how they planned for your bonus to be paid.

    - the concept of “empowerment” is something you will want to forget if you work here. You will get “accountability” without autonomy.

    Conseils à la direction

    - engage. Meaningfully. Several C Suite members couldn't tell you the first thing about the personal lives of their direct reports (spouse? Kids? Hobbies?), let alone coach and enable their growth.

    - you need to make the corporate goals more tangible and attainable at a individual and departmental level. The system today is horrible and breeds distrust. It’s hard to hear how great everything is when bonuses are paid out at 40%.

    - people rise or fall to your expectations. The multiple approval processes, controls and “desks” simply show the org that you don’t trust their decision making and they shouldn’t try. The implicit message here is that nobody is allowed to innovate or make a decision. When you can’t make decisions, you aren’t really invested in the outcome. When you aren’t invested...you disengage. When your employees are disengaged...you get 25%+ turnover. Own the root cause.

    Avantages

Nice offices, flexible work hours. Mostly nice people.

    Inconvénients

They consistently prefer to pay under market value for their employees because they are reporting to Vista. They promise big bonuses by teasing you with a percentage that you NEVER get because the bonus pool has never funded 100%

    Conseils à la direction

Quit doing things to make your employees happy that isn't paying them what their worth.

Je travaille chez Omnitracs à plein temps (Moins d'un an)

    Avantages

Decent pay and benefits with plenty of PTO and holidays to boot. There's also a good support structure in place for mentoring and technical issues.

    Inconvénients

Micromanagement. Difficult on boarding (at least on the project that I'm assigned to). Too much attention is paid to shareholders at the employees' expense, which means most of the credit for success goes to the sales team (short-sighted profit outweighs long-term maintainability here).

    Conseils à la direction

You don't have to be involved in every detail of the implementation of the software to feel good about its development. Shoulders aren't meant to be looked over. They're meant to be pat when a job is well done.

    Great team players within departments

    Inconvénients

Not sure this team would be open minded to take advice or pay attention.

J'ai travaillé chez Omnitracs en Contrat Permanent

    Avantages

Flexible work environment. WFH when needed. PTO and holidays are comparable.

    Inconvénients

Staff are not given the tools/training they need to do their jobs. Career development is non-existent unless you are in Product Development. The company is highly disjointed (Omni Dallas vs Sylectus vs Roadnet). The Sales teams DO NOT work together dispite tremendous effort from non-Omni VPs. The culture in general DOES NOT put emphasis on the employee. Pay is very low for the higher positions.

    Conseils à la direction

Create a culture where the employ feels appreciated. Allow for career development. Put the right people in the right upper level positions (Sales/Marketing VPs, CSO, CMO)

Je travaille chez Omnitracs à plein temps (Plus d'un an)

    Avantages

You will be given a lot of work to keep you busy, and plenty of opportunities to leverage what you've learned while educating other teams about best practices.
The people are friendly and easy to work with. As a new employee you will find people easily approachable and helpful in understanding the environment.
Provides environment to build experience you most likely will see nowhere else.

    Inconvénients

Older employees are stuck in their ways, and will push back if you try to update their systems/services.
Pay is nowhere near competitive, so this place is hard if you have a lot of bills. Bonuses and raises are only offered when you threaten to leave, and even then only offered to employees HR deems worth it.
Policy to be in the office everyday, even though all IT and sales work is remote. They try to enforce it whenever they can. Probably to justify whatever office rental costs they've already paid.

    Conseils à la direction

Offer competitive salary, and offer raises to the workers you value.
    Allow WFH for more workers.

Je travaille chez Omnitracs à plein temps

    Avantages

The team is talented, friendly, and willing to train you to meet their expectations. They offer free keurig coffee, a decent gym on premises, and a very relaxed work environment. The MN location's distance from corporate management makes it a little easier to breathe, too.

    Inconvénients

Word-of-mouth says that pay and benefits are being trimmed to cut costs and make the company more attractive for sale.

    Conseils à la direction

Corporate management disregards the scrum structure and IT best practices in order to rush production, which causes more issues and lower morale. If you hired a scrum master and talented IT professionals, trust them when they tell you something is a bad idea.

    Inconvénients

    Conseils à la direction

Continue to push people and stretch their talent. Your building AWESOME leaders

    Inconvénients

Crazy boss is an understatement. Micro-managed to the bone and frequent false promises. I get that all companies have these issues, but there needs to be a better job in hiring more competent management
