    Avantages

    A brilliant company to be a part of. I personally have progressed from a Part-Time Service assistant to Customer Service Supervisor and now Assistant Store Manager in a short period of time. Training given is fantastic and I have two recognised quals as a result. Great working environment with a family feel even being a rapidly growing company.

    Inconvénients

    Pay can be a bit low compared to other employers in similar sector but it's not all about money.

    Keep doing what you're doing. Investment in systems is good, Investment in staff is good and the attitude is great.

    Avantages

    People are good to work with, 'can do' culture, not too much hierarchy, Directors walk and talk with the teams. High engagement levels in the stores.

    Inconvénients

    Edge just being taken off things as Kingfisher (owners) take more control.

    Avantages

    Secure job. Sites opening every week. Can transfer. Monthly pay. Safe and secure environment. Health and safety of all staff is looked after. Very friendly and regular trade customers. Close to home. Early starts means early finish (7am-3pm) leaving time to go and do things like bank, post office, food shopping, etc

    Inconvénients

    Mixed bag of staff but you get that everywhere. Pay is low for what you do. Lazy staff always deferring customers to you cos they can't be bothered so they pass them to you without asking.

    Having to manage your interaction with some staff who's motive is to come to work to do as little as possible. You work hard while other lazy staff hide in the warehouse, avoid serving customers. Some staff are rude to customers which lets down everything good you're doing. Some staff are sabotaging the operation by not caring what they do. They pick items without letting the guns confirm what they are and the customer comes back pissed off. Deliberately putting back viewings in random locations, not dispatching items off ILS, giving customers wrong policy information, ignoring customers when they come to the queues. Spreading lies to other staff to discredit you. Leaving a mess where ever they are.

    Management not having any staff meetings with staff to go through issues that can be ironed out. Had 1 meeting in the 6 months I've been here to talk setting staff roles. Hiring too many part time people who are either at UNI or got childcare commitments. This impacts the site when you need them in the busy period and no one is available. Then everyone's on holiday when its supposed to be PEAK.

    Management don't do anything about things they are told. Training is poor. You are taught 4 different ways by 4 different people. If your trainer has bad habits, you will carry on with those same bad habits. I've seen all staff levels not care about what they are doing cos the culture is this, why should I care if no one else does.

    Conseils à la direction

    Listen to your staff and act on advice given. Have regular meetings. Hire full time staff ONLY. You DO NOT need part time staff. You have FT staff that CAN work weekends. Pay the trade staff more than the Screwfix staff. Have an awards scheme to incentivise and boost staff moral.
