    Avantages

    There are some genuinely excellent people to work with. Aside from vacation, the benefits are pretty solid. If you are good at saying "no" or haven't established competency in your group's standard categories , you can achieve a reasonable work/life balance.

    Inconvénients

    It's pretty clear to see upper management is looking to cash out by going public. Which translates to demanding from the top down to drive revenue, and profit margins above all else. Definitely, a crack the whip and work harder environment. If you are OT exempt, expect to constantly be asked to take on extra work and erode away your freetime.     The good of the company and the good of your pocket are two very different things. Invest in training if you want the company to continue after you take the money and run. Spend less time grilling middle management about revenue, and focus more on how to improve process efficiency, and office morale. This is a knowledge based company, you need to retain staff to keep it.

    It gives the most freedom I've had in an internship. There are rewards for working hard.

    The lab is basically run by the interns and the salary is a little low for engineering internships.

    Avantages

    Everyone is very helpful but if your not part of the global team your invisible.

    Inconvénients

    Upper management is only concerned with the bottom line, orders. They should be looking at revenue per output. I have no idea how this company has stayed in business so long working like this. Smaller business would die on this type of momentum. They are constantly trying to figure out how to keep their employees. Survey after survey yet they do very little about what they receive. If they are looking to keep employees...

    Stop looking at the money brought in and start thinking about the money spent to get the job verses the money obtained after all expenses are taken out to determine where you are at. Do marketing research and analysis to determine affective pricing for clientele. This would bring more value to the mark which is constantly toted as a reason for pricing when clients complain.

    Some hardworking individuals, people trying to do a good job

    Inconvénients

    UL says they are an ethical company, and that leaders should act with integrity. The opposite is true. Leaders direct and encourage employees to ignore corporate policies and requirements, and threaten them if they speak up. Management hides problems from leadership, and communication to employees about goals and plans is nonexistent. Employee ideas are ignored and management dictates what's going to be done, based...

    Avantages

    Insurance was good and 401k as well.

    Inconvénients

    Little to no communication from upper management. UL acquired our company and dissolved our entire Accounting department. (So if you work for a company that has been acquired by UL be ready to start looking for a new job) Of course in the beginning they won't tell you flat out that you're going to lose your job. It took about 2 years before they started the "merge" so once they start asking to do all the transition work...
