    Avantages

    Co-workers, work itself, helping the community, location, infant at work program.

    Inconvénients

    Management does not appreciate education. If you are not in with management you are out. Gossip is rampant. Few to no opportunities for growth. Supervisors lack consistent training. Intimidation tactics used frequently. Positive feedback is almost non-existent. Turnover is extremely high across the agency.

    Do not tolerate bullying in the workplace. Listen to employee concerns. Don't drag your feet when there are serious issues on the ground level.

      -environment is very welcoming and inclusive, the nicest co-workers I've ever had! -great work-life balance -meaningful work that is directly applicable

      -as with all government jobs, the bureaucracy can be draining--lots of red tape, especially if you are non-DOH fellow -salary is not as competitive as the private sector

        Avantages

        Always an opportunity to learn more and shadow other labs. Friendly people and place to work with a laid back atmosphere. The lab staff is a mix of recent graduates to middle age. Appreciation is shown to employees through potlucks, monthly birthday celebrations, and other small social events. Flexible and easy to take time off and take lunch and breaks wherever it works best with your schedule. When new supplies or instruments...

        Inconvénients

        Very hard to move up unless someone quits or retires. Pay is not great compared to the cost of living in the area. Employees that are salary are treated like hourly (even if work is done you must stay til the bell rings). The Shoreline lab gets forgotten and doesn’t get all the great benefits of the Tumwater campus even though we still receive emails about events that are not relevant to lab staff.

        Don’t turn a blind eye to negative feedback and acknowledge when feedback is given. Collaborate with other managers to promote more cross training.

        The organization is big and the culture can vary by what team your on. I loved my team but knew there was variation across the organization.

        Great coworkers and interesting projects (sometimes). A lot of potlucks, laid back atmosphere, supports the health of the citizens of Washington.

        Inconvénients

        this is specific to the HTS (health technology solutions) group: if you are applying for a project management job or a few other groups, unless you are male and specifically white middle aged male, you will not be hired. If you have a disability , health issues, or need accommodations, you will not be approved. The open office environment is very distracting yet it is mandatory to be present and physically in the office...

        Why do you allow bullying and discrmination even after the governor has signed a directive that this will not be tolerated? With the cost of housing and the horrible congestion on the roads, why do you not allow remote work, even after the governor signed a directive specifically allowing this? People commute from Auburn, Portland, and everywhere in between yet you offer no recognition of just how expensive it is to do...
