SE is a great company to work for, and I'm glad I decided to apply here 10 years ago (although at the time the entry level pay was dismal and the job was a grind -- that since has changed with the sales development program in Nashville). SE puts a major emphasis on High Performance, and being able to multi-task various projects simultaneously. The amount of resources in HR can be a bit overwhelming from time to time, but the amount of investments they put into their high performers is top notch. There certainly is pressure to continue to perform, but its not overly cut-throat. The people who work here are great and management doesn't make decisions on whim - many are thought out and meticulous. During the pandemic there were a lot of benefits that they maintained, and I am not aware of mass layoffs/RIFs across organizations (there are cases of restructuring but compared to other firms right now its not that bad)
Inconvénients
The issue with continually promoting the high performers (or perceived ones) is that you leave a wide range of employees who are very good at their job feeling undervalued. Not everyone can get the HP rating, and sometimes its subjective. Managers and HR does their best to evaluate as empirically as they can but they miss some often. More benefits and career evolutions needs to be considered for the middle performer pack.
