    Entretien de Student Success Advisor

    Candidat à l'entretien anonyme
    Aucune offre d'embauche
    Expérience négative
    Entretien facile

    Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris +2 mois. J'ai passé un entretien à 2U.

    Entretien

Back in  June, I applied to two positions at 2U: Principal Student Success Advisor (VANEDU) and Student Success Advisor. I applied to both positions.

I initially interviewed for the Principal Student Success Advisor (VANEDU) position. I applied over a weekend and heard back the following Monday.  I had a phone briefing interview with a 2U recruiter. Within a few days from the initial briefing, I was asked to complete an assignment. Then I had a virtual Zoom meeting with two student success managers at 2u. The interview, in my view, was relaxed and both interviewers were smart, kind, and welcoming. A week after interviewing, I followed up with the recruiter but never received a response. About a month after the interview, the recruiter did send me an email, informing me that the role was filled but that both interviewers were impressed by my knowledge and skills. The recruiter offered to chat more on the phone to provide feedback about the interview, which I thought was a great opportunity albeit a rare one. The recruiter informed me that though I did not get the job as the Principal Student Success Advisor and that 2U wanted to interview me for the Student Success Advisor (Lanham, MD) position.

I was forwarded a link to submit a pre-recorded interview which I submitted within a week (the time-frame allowed to submit the interview). Interviewing for this second position started in July (2020). I submitted the pre-recorded interview (roughly 30 minutes) on July 19, 2020. I also sent two follow up emails to the recruiter and never heard back. On August 13th I received an email that I did not get the job as a Student Success Advisor at 2u; except this time an automated email was sent to me instead of the actual recruiter with whom I was in contact for at least two months.

I just want to say that this company has wasted my time from June 12 to August 13 2020. It's unethical and outrageous. From submitting assignments for 2U, several phone calls, and two interviews, one would think that in the end the recruiter would have the respect to send me a personalized email.

I strongly recommend that applicants reconsider applying to this company. Based on the other reviews of interviews listed here, the company does not seem to value the fact that they are interviewing humans, not disposable workers on some factory line. And, any company that requires a pre-recorded interview needs to be taken as a sign of a bad company.

Inappropriate conduct during recruitment was enough to end my interest in this company. Instead of scheduling further interviews to inquire about my knowledge and background, I received a request to perform a more advanced version of their skills test, and not because I was suddenly in consideration for a more skilled position. I took their normal test and apparently performed so well that they assumed I cheated or faked it.

2U seems ignorant of the fact that there are competitor companies with employees performing the same work 2U is doing in a very small industry with a common set of best practices. And surprise, some of those employees might be interested in 2U!

Hospitals don't question doctors from other hospitals regarding how they got their "ideas" for patient care. That my competence was a surprise and something to question instead of value is an embarrassment to this organization and insulting to me. I can't imagine who they are actually hiring.

    Entretien

I made it through the initial phone screening and was very confident in my abilities to be successful in this position since I've had years of working with students. My second round of interview was with the hiring manager who was incredibly rude. Her tone was very condescending and it simply felt like she did not want to speak to me. I almost asked why did she even pick up my application if she was so sure I would be terrible in the role. For a company that claims it is so welcoming, I felt like crap during this interview.

2U needs to actually hire people that want to be there. I cannot imagine ever reocmmending for anyone to work here. I've read tons of reviews on here about how mean and nasty individuals are in this company but now I've experienced it first hand.

Please don't interview individuals you do not like from the get go. Your bias shows during the interview.

I submitted my application online and afterwards had an employee send an internal referral to HR. I received a phone interview request the day after the internal referral was sent! At the end of the phone interview, the recruiter invited me to video interview with the team. I had a total of three video interviews, including one with a VP, and received an offer less than a week after. The entire process took 5 months due to 2U having a hiring pause during COVID-19. The process was overall smooth, the recruiter was personable and quick to respond to questions, and the team was authentic and positive. I am looking forward to joining the organization!

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 6 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien à 2U en juin 2020.

    Entretien

I did a phone screen with their internal recruiter, which went smoothly. In the next round, I did a video call interview with the hiring manager's counterpart who oversaw a different product line. They asked a ton of "tell me about a time when..." questions. My responses were well-received as I had spent the preceding few days preparing plenty of stories about my experience that relates to the role. I was told the actual hiring manager was out on sick leave and would interview me upon their return in the following week.

After a month of waiting for the invite, I emailed the recruiter to check in for an update. No response. After another two weeks of silence, I sent another check-in email. The following day, I received an automated rejection email.

Having completed several steps and been invited then dis-invited for the next round, I asked for feedback. Respectable companies offer feedback to candidates who give this much time to their interview process. Staying on brand, 2U has not responded.

The interview process was pretty typical. First, had a short call with a recruiter asking about my interest in the company and my general career goals. Next I had a more technical interview with one of the managers on the team I was interviewing for. After that I was given a “homework assignment” pertaining to the role and we went over this assignment at the final
    in person interview.

Took about a month, you have a phone interview, a video chat interview, then a coding assessment, and then they invite you in office for an in person interview. Overall, the process was smooth sailing. The assessment part isn't difficult but they want to see how you go about presenting your code more than if you can complete it. I did complete it, but i heard some people did not and still got an interview.

Great! Starts off as a video interview, then phone, then in person with 3 hiring managers. Takes a couple weeks but it's not so bad. Was a great experience. They give good insight on the position, culture of the company and what to expect. Also got a mini tour of the office building.

This process was delayed due to Covid, however, I am very disappointed in the way my interview was handled.

I was contacted by email about a week after applying. The first interview round, I spoke with the recruiter over the phone. They asked questions about my experience and then told me I would be moving on to the next round. After a few days, I received a follow up email requesting a day and time to video interview. My second interview was pleasant and was only 30 minutes. I was able to ask questions and elaborate on my experiences. I was told I would hear back within a week. However, things with Covid became worse, so the process was delayed. About 3 weeks later, I received an email stating that they were closing the position due to a hiring freeze.

About two month later, the position was reposted. I was so excited! However, I was not contacted. I applied again and followed up with the recruiter. I was told they would get back to me by the end of the week. That was 4 weeks ago.

I really like 2U's mission and felt this company would be a great fit for my career goals. I have also applied to positions that I felt were within my skillset. I have yet to hear about any of them. They have over 100 positions available at this time and I am certain now I am not wanted.

This was seriously the WORST company I have ever interviewed for. If you are thinking about working here, don't walk- RUN! The first time I applied for the position I completed a 30 minute phone screening with a recruiter, which was then followed by a video interview I had to record and submit. After waiting a week, I was invited for an in-person interview where I was asked a series of questions and had to present on a topic of my choice. I felt the interview went well and I was told I would hear in five business days. Fast forward 3.5 weeks and I had to reach out to the hiring managers because the recruiter couldn't even give me the decency of responding or picking up a phone. The hiring managers told me they were sorry I hadn't heard but they had hired internally. Another week goes by and then the recruiter reached out to "apologize for the late reply" and asked if I would be interested in interviewing with a different team. I said sure and waited another 3 weeks to complete a Google Hangouts interview. About a week after the interview the recruiter emailed me to say, "I have an exciting update! I'll tell you in 3 business days!" First of all... why even send an email if you can't tell me? Second of all, I'm sitting at another two weeks from receiving that email and it is radio silence. I am so over this company and trying to work for it. If you want to recruit strong employees, treating them like this or blowing them off is not how you do it. I stopped reaching out after I was ghosted again. Don't bother wasting your time with this dumpster fire.
