    Entretien de Software Engineer Senior

    Candidat à l'entretien anonyme - New York, NY (États-Unis)
    Aucune offre d'embauche
    Expérience négative
    Entretien dificile

    Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 2 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien à Aetion (New York, NY (États-Unis)) en février 2020.

    Entretien

The first round was with the recruiter which was okay except he was using a VOIP to talk to me on the phone since we were long distance. The quality of the call was not good and I had a difficult time hearing him.

The next round, HR sent me a sheet on what concepts I may be asked and recommended tests4geeks.com. I go to the website and you have to pay for questions so I didn't use it. The sheet says that the interview "almost always include an element of live coding" so I'm thinking that it will be a coding interview platform that the interview and myself will see. So I studied for 4 days all these coding questions and then on the day of the interview. It was just a video conference interview and the Senior Engineer is literally entering code in the chat box, which was unformatted and extremely hard to read. It didn't seem like he had a question prepared, he just made up a question on the spot.

The technical questions he asked were fair but it's a little hard to explain an optimized solution without a text editor of some sort. I was just disappointed that the sheet given from HR isn't exactly what you will be experiencing in the technical interview.

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris +2 mois. J'ai passé un entretien à Aetion.

Short phone screen, then longer phone interview followed by a take home assessment which took a few hours. On site interviews with seven team members after that, only to be told at the end of this process that they'd decided to no longer hire for the position at all. Very unprofessional to end the process with a short phone call and be left with an afterthought of "maybe we'll think of you next quarter".

Thank you for this feedback. There are times when Aetion decides to put positions on hold to make sure we're thoughtful about our org structure and clear on how each role aligns with the business. We appreciate you taking the time to go through the process, and would like to connect on potential roles in the future. You can reach out to our recruiting team at careers@aetion.com. Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 6 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien à Aetion en mai 2019.

    Entretien

Applied Online, immediately got first HR call, and after initial screening, a video call was arranged.

At first technical round - no show from technical interviewer.

Then I had to reach out to the HR and interviewer, I was expecting them to come up but they were not good enough. Second video call technical interview, went well.

Second round - Coding assessment, one week time was given to complete, completed and submitted working code. Got rejection after 2 weeks.

Overall experience - Bad, the process took more than one and half month and I would have not joined the company even I would have got offer. I am glad that they rejected me.

    Candidature

J'ai postulé via une recommandation d'un employé. Le processus a pris +4 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien à Aetion (Boston, MA (États-Unis)).

    Entretien

I was contacted to set up a brief phone screening within a week or so of my application. The phone screening was with HR and took less than 15 minutes and was mostly logistics. Two days later I had a phone interview with an employee which was ~30min and went over my experience and behavioral questions. Then, I was sent a take home assignment a few days later to complete within a week. A week after submission I was contacted by HR to schedule a meeting at the Boston office for an in person interview. The interviews were smooth and consisted of 4 30-minute one-on-one interviews with various team members to figure out cultural fit and ask behavioral questions. Overall a positive experience, but I did not get the offer.

Interviewed over the phone with several team leads, then interviewed in person with again several team leads. Had a take home assignment with skills related questions then more interviews. The process was fairly extensive but everyone was quite approachable and more like discussions rather than interviews.

Entretien de Senior Information Security Analyst

Employé anonyme - New York, NY (États-Unis)
    Offre d'embauche acceptée
    Expérience positive
    Difficulté moyenne

    Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 4 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien à Aetion (New York, NY (États-Unis)).

    Entretien

I was contacted by a recruiter via Linkedin based on my profile. We set up an initial phone interview where we discussed Aetion, The role, why Aetion is a great place to work and as well as my qualifications for the role. Towards the end of the conversation, the recruiter explained to me the Interview process, Interview timeframes and asked was I interested in moving forward with interviewing further with the company. From there I quickly had a phone interview scheduled with the Hiring manager within the next couple of days.

I had a very pleasant conversation with the Hiring manager who went into more detail about the role and my background. The Hiring manager let me know at the end of the conversation that he was recommending that I come onsight to meet the team for the next and final phase of interviewing.

I was contacted for the scheduling of the in-person interviews within a week. I was scheduled for onsite interviews with various members of the Team.

The onsite interviews with the team were (refreshingly) stylistically different than my past technical interviews. In my past interviews with other companies; I have been "generally" bombarded with a lot of technical questions that did not really focus my ability to accomplish real-world problems.

At Aetion my interviewers focused on real-life scenarios that would be faced in the position. Also, the interviewers took the time really to get to know me as a person. For example; In several instances when we went over the allotted time and I had more, questions the interviewers patiently answered my questions and made sure I was comfortable. The remaining interviewers also adjusted their schedules and did not rush through the process.

The day after the onsite interviews I was contacted by the recruiter with whom I had been working with. During our conversation, She asked me about my thoughts about joining the company and let me know that the team really enjoyed my visit. I expressed my continued interest in the role and she told me she would be following up with the next steps in a couple of days.

We spoke about two days later where I was given a formal offer of employment.

    Entretien de Executive Assistant

    Candidat à l'entretien anonyme - New York, NY (États-Unis)
    Aucune offre d'embauche
    Expérience neutre
    Difficulté moyenne

    Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 2 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien à Aetion (New York, NY (États-Unis)) en octobre 2018.

    Entretien

I applied online, was interviewed by a very pleasant internal recruiter via phone, and subsequently interviewed consecutively by four mid-senior level staff members onsite (two in-person, one via conference call, and the other via video).

All the interviewers were professional and cordial with the exception of an older Boston based employee who conducted our interaction like an FBI investigation. She kept impatiently interrupting me while I answered, instead of allowing me to express myself to get a sense of my communication style and thought process. She insisted on conducting the interview by phone although the connection was very poor and used a very rigid interviewing format. She seemed more interested in finding an error in my methodology because it didn’t mirror hers.

Overall, it was a positive experience, however, the Boston-based interviewer’s technique was off-putting and a tad antagonistic. I sincerely wish she’d been trained to Listen for Potential. She’s obviously very skilled and a valued, respected employee. I DO NOT think she harbored ill will towards me. Nevertheless, her instinctual need to dominate the conversation, instead of guide it, could foreshadow future conflicts for an equally strong-willed employee.

I received a truly gracious email this evening from the recruiter, thanking me for my time and encouraging me to reapply in the future. Am I disappointed? Sure. Am I surprised? Not at all. If an interviewer refuses to give candidates adequate time to sufficiently express themselves, perhaps it’s simply not the right time, department, or opportunity...
