I had two phone screens and an onsite interview. The first phone screen was with a recruiter and the second was with an SDR manager. The onsite was with the VP of sales and two SDR managers.

Originally reached out to the recruiter on LinkedIn, never received a response. Went on to reaching out directly to the hiring manager, scheduled a phone call and had an interview. Went extremely well and was referred back to the recruiter who was supposed to send me a personality and analytics test.
Was told I could not move forward due to not having a bachelor's degree. Disappointing that the recruiters do not look at candidates holistically in what they can bring to the company. Millennials have a financially harder time completing a BA than any other generation. Counting out candidates based on ONE piece of criteria, even if they do possess some sort of higher education (AA or above) and clearly relevant work experience you discount them is discouraging and not truly a start-up mentality. Some of the brightest minds in today's technology sphere do not possess any degrees.

    Entretien de Sales Development Representative

    Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris +3 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien à Brightedge Technologies (Chicago, IL (États-Unis)) en janvier 2017.

    Entretien

I applied via LinkedIn, which is smart. I don't know why more companies do the one click apply, but it's a great way to find candidates who are busy with their current position. I went through 3-4 rounds of interviews and an assessment. The whole process was pretty strange after the first interview. The job role was similar to my background so I had no reservations in my abilities to learn and adapt quickly. The culture of the company, however, was another story. Their Chicago office had about 10-12 people in it, in a fairly large office space. The interviewers repeated that this was a "winner" mentality team. What that really seemed to translate to was "we give you training and you compete with everyone." Don't get me wrong, I'm in sales so of course I like competition. However, it was very apparent that collaboration was minimal and others were not willing to help. They had also already formed an opinion of me based on someone who had known me two years ago, who I had barely known through my college classes. If this person embodies their "winner mentality," then I'd have to pass. Looked like a swimming pool full of sharks at a company trying to gain market share in a saturated space. No thanks.

The interview was a short, 30 minute phone call. It was a pretty standard interview, and the interviewer was very friendly. They don't call it an interview, they call it a "getting to know you call"-- so if it's your first interview ever, like it was mine, make sure you prepare for it like it's an interview.

I met the recruiter at a career fair. We worked together to get a phone interview where I was told to research the company to get a step ahead. It was half interviewing me and half I interview them. I was told it was a great interview until I received an email that I was being passed for other candidates since it was a strong pool.

Out of state recruiter reached out after I applied online, she was very nice and helpful. However, after I spoke with the manager, I had a bad taste in my mouth. He was combative and argued with me over my answers. It was not conversational and very awkward. I understand sales is competitive, but I don't like to get off the phone asking myself what just happened.

    Entretien de Sales Development Representative

    Candidature

J'ai postulé via une autre source. Le processus a pris 3 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien à Brightedge Technologies (Foster City, CA (États-Unis)) en janvier 2019.

    Entretien

Let me preface my review of Brightedge's interview process with the following: I did not get the job. Consequently, I may not be the best review to read in regards to preparing for the interview itself.

Within this review, I will aim to however, describe my time at Brightedge's career day. I found the day insightful and organized in a clear coherent manner. As the interviewee, Brightedge's organization was comforting and helpful in predicting the course of my day. You will know when it is your time to interview, making the process, and day, less stressful than an unpredictable interview timetable.

Brightedge did a fantastic job of organizing their career day's agenda to benefit their interviewees. In regards to the day's organization, Brightedge front loads their "sales 101 introduction" and employee panel prior to time allocated for the actual interviews. As the interviewee myself, I found it beneficial to hear from the company's employees, and learn what they were looking for in an interviewee, prior to the interview. I believe Brightedge's deliberate scheduling gives each interviewee the best chance to perform well. You essentially know what the company is looking for before any of the interviews begin!

Additionally, I was so impressed with Brightedge's current sales development representative team. As any interviewing day is, the interviewees are most likely nervous. The company's SDRs were extremely gregarious, and welcoming, to me. I can only imagine that the SDRs' friendliness would not be the norm at most companies.

As far as the interview process goes there is a mock sales call with a current SDR manager. What I appreciated about this portion of the interview was my particular SDR manager's ability to focus on the positives, yet also provide insightful constructive criticism. After the mock call with the SDR manager, you then proceed with two individual interviews one on one with a vice president from the company. After the interviews with the vice presidents my day came to a close.

Overall, I greatly enjoyed my day at Brightedge. The experience was insightful and I had the opportunity to meet a lot of awesome people. Before I conclude, I would like to inform you that Brightedge places a heavy emphasis on "closing the conversation" (i.e. asking if there's any reason they don't see you fit for the position?). Be sure to close out every interview. Closing the interview (and most likely the sale, if hired) is a critical portion of the interview.

Lastly, my only reservation with Brightedge and their career day is the lack of feedback I received upon my rejection. As Brightedge emphasizes, I closed the conversation by asking, "What could I have improved upon in the interviews that held me back from receiving an offer?" The answer I received was rather disappointing. In fact, it was not an answer at all. I was told that "I had brought my A game, and they could not tell me anything further."

My frustration with the company's response quite possibly stems from my lack of knowledge and understanding of the corporate world. Nonetheless, I expected a company that preached closing the interviews so adamantly, to at least do the same with me. Reflecting on my experience and rejection, I could not help but to see the stark dichotomy, and irony, that became apparent after the way Brightedge "closed" the conversation with me. I took a day to visit the company, and interview (nearly seven hours worth of my time) to ultimately receive no constructive feed back or any justification on why I was not offered the position. Consequently, I can not say that I grew from the experience as a whole. If I spend a whole day doing something, and dedicating my time, I would like to have the whole experience come full circle, which unfortunately did not happen.

Otherwise, I was very impressed with the company and my experience at their career day. If you are reading this review, I completely endorse pursuing Brightedge as a potential employer. I had a great experience during the career day itself, and got to meet some fantastic people.

    Good luck!

J'ai postulé via un établissement de l'enseignement supérieur ou universitaire.. Le processus a pris +4 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien à Brightedge Technologies (Cleveland, OH (États-Unis)).

    Entretien

A recruiter originally reached out to me on LinkedIn. This began the initial 30 minute phone screen, followed by a 30-40 minute conversation with a sales manager, an onsite interview (2 hours with 3 different sales managers), and another phone interview the next day. BrightEdge completely misled me in the fact that my recruiter stayed completely positive and confident that I would receive the offer, no problem. After completing the extensive, 4 step, interview process, I thought for sure I had landed the job. Especially considering one of the sales managers told me that "I'm a for sure in" and he "can't wait to see me again soon," both hinting that the opportunity was mine. I ended up being turned down, completely blind sided, because my answers weren't "concise" enough.

I was scheduled for an interview immediately, the morning after I had applied online. I gave her my availability and she forgot to mention she was on the East Coast for a work trip. Two hours AFTER our scheduled phone conversation, she canceled, after I followed up with an email. Had the phone interview a week later and asked for another phone convo later in the week, but felt the position was not the right fit.
