      Was contacted by a recruiter via LinkedIn about a Business Analysis Manager position. I responded to the email and set up a phone conversation for the same day. Initial conversation with the recruiter took about 15 minutes with general background questions for me and gauging my interest in the position. He spent most of the time talking about how great Capital One is. After the conversation, I was instructed to go the company's website and formally apply for the position. Within a day I received an email about the testing process. I spent a couple afternoon/evenings preparing for the exam. The materials (websites) they provide you with should be enough to get you up to speed on the type of questions they ask. The sample tests, in my opinion, were much harder than the actual tests. I found myself running out of time on the sample tests, but cruised through the actual tests online. After completing verbal and math sections, there is a personality test that is pretty long. After completing the tests, the recruiter emailed me to let me know I passed and we set up the interviews in Richmond for a couple weeks later. One thing that bothered me a little bit...he initially approached me about a Business Analysis Manager position, but I was confirmed to interview for the Operations Analyst Manager position. When asked about it the recruiter said that I was a better fit for that role, but I felt like it was sort of a bait-and-switch situation. The roles were similar enough in terms of what I was looking for, so I went ahead with the operations interview. Interviews were on their campus in Richmond, VA. There seemed to be about 30 people interviewing that day, with people shuffling in and out of the interview area. The Ops Analyst candidates were separated from the other candidates and handled by a separate recruiter. Interviews consisted of 2 case and 2 fit. The fit interviews were very basic...3 "Tell me about a time you..." questions. The case interviews were tough, but I thought I did pretty well. It really is a race against the clock...the cases are designed to go the entire 45 minutes. Both of my cases had to do with some aspect of credit cards. One thing to note is that the case interviews were administered by analysts while the fit interviews were conducted by people in other parts of the business who, to be honest, seemed a little more personable. After interviewing, they treat you to lunch and a tour of the facility. All of the operations analyst candidates went to lunch together with a 2nd year analyst as the host. I was interviewing for a Manager position and was hoping to go to lunch with somebody a little more senior who could answer some of the questions I had. After the tour, they brought everyone back to the interviewing area where most of us were dismissed while a couple people stayed (I believe) for another case. I was told that I would receive word the following week, but I never did. After reaching out to the recruiter a couple weeks later, he sent me an email letting me know that I was not recommended for employment and he apologized because he thought he had sent out the email....very professional of him!!! The fact that they give you bad news by email is rude and impersonal...they also don't give you any concrete feedback which also stinks.
