    Had an initial phone screen with an external recruiting company. Reached out to me on LinkedIn. The overall process was smooth and efficient. Maybe a little too efficient. Felt like they have a perfect candidate they are looking for and any variance they may not go for it. Makes sense since there are many people who want to work for Google. Overall good experience so far.

    Just awful. Never been treated worse by any hiring process. After phone screens with both the recruiter and the hiring manager, I was told I was selected for an on-site interview. After days of prepping for this, a few days before my interview, the on-site was cancelled and I was told they wanted to go with a candidate with an Engineering background. This was after days and even weeks of prep. The recruiter told me they would find me another PM position for me to interview for, but after months of this never materializing, I accepted a role with a competitor. This experience made Google a company I'm no longer interested in working for at any point in the near future.

    Applied online, interview with recruiter, home assignment, in-person with five people. It took a few weeks between submitting the assignment and scheduling the on-site. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Everyone was respectful and easy to speak with.

    Applied via Linked In and a recruiter reached out to me a week or so later. Had a recruiter phone screen then a 30 minute phone interview with the hiring manager. I was invited onsite for a 4 hour interview with 4 different people.

    This was the strangest interview process I have ever experienced in my long career! I fully understand the STAR method and answering behavioral questions, but the way they asked the questions was not a good assessment of my abilities and experience. I would answer in STAR, but their follow up questions were like beating a dead horse! It got to the point that I basically had nothing else to say. With every question they would follow up and ask “How did you come to that conclusion?” “What steps did you take to make that decision?”. In my head I was like “I answered in STAR - I just told you!”. It’s like they are more concerned with filling out the questionnaire/form on their computer than listening to my answers.

    After completing the 2nd interview, I saw the pattern and at that point I questioned if that culture was even a good fit for me. It was the strangest interview I have ever been in and I’ve had a lot of experience working in tech and for big tech companies. The final interview was with a higher up, the questioning just got stranger from there and I didn’t even try, I was just myself and answered the questions using my own judgement.

    I left the building knowing I was not “Googly” and I would get no offer. The next day the recruiter emailed me confirming no offer.

    Be prepared to be asked questions not related to the role you are applying for. For example, I was asked about steps to launch a product that were more for a product development type of role, which had nothing to do with the role I was interested in and had no correlation to my previous experience.

    Interview process consisted of an email from the recruiter congratulating me on being selected for an interview, followed by 2 phone interviews over a 3 week period (waiting for feedback in between). After the second interview (and another 9 days), I get a call expecting to say I would be scheduled for an on-site. Instead I was informed that although both of my interviews were outstanding, they had already filled the position.

    A recruiter reached out to me and we scheduled a phone call. She passed my information to several teams hiring Program Managers and got back to me with an opportunity of interview with a team member in a week. The lady who interviewed me is very respectful. I was called next week about the results of not moving forward. The whole process was well planned, on-time and informative. Hope I could do better if I could be interviewed again in the future.

    It started with a referral from a friend who works there. Recruiter called and we had a short conversation and she said she would move me to next step to talk to hiring manager. That happened in about 2 weeks. Had a great call with hiring manager and heard back from the recruiter that they wanted me to come in for an interview loop. That happened in about 2 weeks. I meet with 5 people. 4 were formal interviews and 1 was for lunch.

    I met with 3 program managers and 1 technical program manager. All the questions were behavioral or scenario based. "Tell me about a time...". "If you were in this situation what would you do?"

    3 were part of the larger team I would be working with and 1 was from another dept. I think that's standard interview process for Google to bring in someone from outside the team for I guess an outside point of view.

    What I'm most disappointed about it was that I did not get asked a single technical question. One of the minimum requirements is SQL and data analysis and so I spent a bulk of my prep time preparing for at least a couple of those. Huh? If I had known I wouldn't be asked technical I would have spent more time on the behavioral stuff. So that might have hurt my chances.

    Anyway, a week later I got a call from the recruiter I wouldn't be moving forward but she said she couldn't give me any specifics. Which is sorta standard practice but still sucks since you don't know if you bombed the interview or there were other factors which didn't move you forward.
