J'ai postulé via une recommandation d'un employé. J'ai passé un entretien à Google.

Entretien

Went through via a referral, took a few weeks for the phone screen, there was confusion about the role that I had applied for but following that an initial interview and subsequent panel interview scheduling took place fairly quickly. The interviewers were on time, friendly and professional and questions were reasonable. About a week later I was scheduled to speak to the hiring manager (even though the hiring committee would have been the next step per the process). In that 30min call the hiring manager was 10min late and not aware of my notes and who I had interviewed with to date, so time was limited. The recruiter also did not make it clear what the format of this call would be. Following the HM call I was told I would be hearing on the next steps. A week later was told that there were other candidates to go through before a final decision within next 2 weeks. 2 weeks passed and no update so I followed up, the recruiter confirmed that there were still no updates at this time and would reach out when there was one. A further 3 weeks passed so I emailed for a status again, only to be asked why I am reaching out as it was made clear the last time we spoke that my candidacy was not going ahead, this is not what happened. Clear communication should be a basic expectation of any interview process and this did not take place, which was disappointing from a company like Google.

    6 interviews in total:
    - 1 recruiter interview: where the recruiter assess whether you can be a good fit for the company based on your profile and your aspirations
    - 1 interview of calibration: interview with a Program Manager, mixing a bit of soft skills and technical, just to scratch the surface and make sure you are worth a shot in a more in depth interview
4 "on-site" (were performed on a webconference due to Covid-19) interviews assessing the different dimensions of Google: googleyness, leadership, cognitive ability and technicals

    Questions d'entretien d'embauche

    • Each of the interviewers were going off of a standard list of questions that they had to pick from, leaving no room for "clicking" with the interviewer.
Also a good number of the questions were just not applicable for the position I was apply too (e.g. technical questions for a role that was not mine!)   3 Réponses

Horrific to say the least unless you know i don't know what else to say here. The interviews are just weird and difficult. If you want to interview here, first get the book Cracking the PM Interview

    Google is Evil

Google hiring is the most ridiculous process ever - Its a joke! they make you go through 3 months of crazy interviews with dumb questions. You keep your life on hold for things to pan out.

Next they will downlevel you even if you do really well in interviews cus they want to low ball you! Interviewers dont want to see anyone joining from a non FAANG company at a higher level they joined!

Once you are past these stages and are at the finishing line - You are told that the position is eliminated!

You make things more complicated then they should be and exploit job seekers. Take this somewhere else - Pathetic!

Had an initial phone screen with an external recruiting company. Reached out to me on LinkedIn. The overall process was smooth and efficient. Maybe a little too efficient. Felt like they have a perfect candidate they are looking for and any variance they may not go for it. Makes sense since there are many people who want to work for Google. Overall good experience so far.

Multiple recruiters were involved. Had one video interview with an employee from the department connected to the positions. Recruiter wants to provide me with feedback of why I did not get the position.

Just awful. Never been treated worse by any hiring process. After phone screens with both the recruiter and the hiring manager, I was told I was selected for an on-site interview. After days of prepping for this, a few days before my interview, the on-site was cancelled and I was told they wanted to go with a candidate with an Engineering background. This was after days and even weeks of prep. The recruiter told me they would find me another PM position for me to interview for, but after months of this never materializing, I accepted a role with a competitor. This experience made Google a company I'm no longer interested in working for at any point in the near future.

Applied online, interview with recruiter, home assignment, in-person with five people. It took a few weeks between submitting the assignment and scheduling the on-site. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Everyone was respectful and easy to speak with.

Applied via Linked In and a recruiter reached out to me a week or so later. Had a recruiter phone screen then a 30 minute phone interview with the hiring manager. I was invited onsite for a 4 hour interview with 4 different people.

This was the strangest interview process I have ever experienced in my long career! I fully understand the STAR method and answering behavioral questions, but the way they asked the questions was not a good assessment of my abilities and experience. I would answer in STAR, but their follow up questions were like beating a dead horse! It got to the point that I basically had nothing else to say. With every question they would follow up and ask “How did you come to that conclusion?” “What steps did you take to make that decision?”. In my head I was like “I answered in STAR - I just told you!”. It’s like they are more concerned with filling out the questionnaire/form on their computer than listening to my answers.

After completing the 2nd interview, I saw the pattern and at that point I questioned if that culture was even a good fit for me. It was the strangest interview I have ever been in and I’ve had a lot of experience working in tech and for big tech companies. The final interview was with a higher up, the questioning just got stranger from there and I didn’t even try, I was just myself and answered the questions using my own judgement.

I left the building knowing I was not “Googly” and I would get no offer. The next day the recruiter emailed me confirming no offer.

Be prepared to be asked questions not related to the role you are applying for. For example, I was asked about steps to launch a product that were more for a product development type of role, which had nothing to do with the role I was interested in and had no correlation to my previous experience.
