Fourth and final stage is another face to face interview with your branch manager and one of the directors of the company.

    1. Initial group interview involved some tasks to establish basic competency. If you come in confident and able to communicate clearly and well you will be OK. Practice talking to pretend clients and consultants over the phone. Your job is to sell!

    2. Second round was meeting some of the team and senor members. Conversational and typical interview questions. I was asked to come back for a third interview despite being told it was my final interview. This felt unproffessional and somewhat disorganised and disrespectful.

    3. Final interview, retuning to meet another member of the team felt weird. The senior staff member was moody, tired and seemingly hungover (maybe I am wrong). Very negative vibe, feeling like he was trying to put me off going into recruitment. He achieved this.

    I was offered a position but declined as I realised recruitment isn't for me.

    The day after I had a phone call to say I was successful and they’d like to invite me back for a final interview to discuss the role further and if it’s a fit for both me and the company.

    4th- final stage with managing director and senior manager, asking why hays, how I work with others and more competency based Q to see if you will fit in with the team

    I applied online and a few weeks later got an email that my application was successful and I will have a phone interview soon.
    Usually when you have a phone interview the company asks what is suitable for you or they offer a time and call you...Not here. In the next email they said I have to call them 2 days later anytime. Ok, no problem. I prepared for the interview and I was confident that I will go to the next stage.
    What exactly happened: I called the office and I spoke with a lady. She started the interview straight away with these questions: are you eligible to work in the UK, have you got a clean driving licence? yes and yes.... But the style...I had a few phone interviews before and yes, I have an accent, because I am not native English, but usually people start phone interviews with a little calming chat, like 'how are you?' Nope...She went through the interview questions, vlearly read them from a script and I had the feeling that she wasn't listening at all to my answers...Not at all...She asked the same questions, even when I told her the answer 2 minutes ago. She interrupted my answer with the next question.
    So this was my worst phone interview and I was not expected this from a recruitment company. I don't need to say I've never heard back from them. But after this I am not sure I want to work for a company who is clearly disrespectful with diverse background candidates.

    The interview process for Hays is long, however, it is well worth it and the best I have ever been in. The whole process will help you understand the role, company, and where you fit in. After all, you must like the company as much as they like you.

    First of all, I had an informal telephone interview briefly outlining the job, what I thought of it and how I thought I would fit in. Asked me why recruitment. After a short interview, I was offered to go and meet the manager in my respective office to meet for a more formal interview.

    The second stage.. This was where I suited up and met with the manager, they asked very similar questions to my previous interview but wanted more detail. Why recruitment, what skills do I have that enable me to do the job. what do I understand about the job? We then went over role-plays, these are okay but remember, they know you have no recruitment experience and don't expect you to be an expert straight away. Anyway, after passing this stage, I was offered to attend the ASSESSMENT CENTRE...

    Third stage, assessment centre... Before attending this, I did A LOT of research and many people online were saying how tough it was. IGNORE THEM, relax and be yourself!! Your aim in the role plays is to ask open questions and overcome those objections, show that you can think creatively and on the spot. Again, they are not expecting you to be an expert at this stage. After 2 role plays and writing up a job advert, we were shown the office, ask plenty of relevant questions and make sure you understand what you're going into. At this stage, Hays do a phenomenal job of selling the whole company and making sure you know everything that it takes to do the role and what Is expected of you. For me, I couldn't wait to get started and was praying that I was successful in the role plays. Over the weekend, we were told to think about everything and make sure this was a career we wanted, after making a yes or no decision, we were told to email our respective recruiters and feedback. I was told on the Monday that I was SUCCESSFUL!!

    Stage 4... This was the last stage for myself, I got to meet the director of my chosen office and after a similar interview that I had with the manager, I was told I was successful and offered a job.

    The whole process was the best I have ever experienced in my opinion. I understood everything and the excitement grew, be patient, relax and be yourself. Read up around the area and make sure it is for you.

    There were two telephone interviews, then I was invited to their office to meet Managing Directors for a face to face interview. I was told to expect contact to invite me to a "taster/trial" but was never contacted by the internal recruitment team.
