J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez Ivanti (Orlando, FL) en mai 2021

      Entretien

Got through the call with the recruiter and video interview with hiring manager. Haven't heard anything since. Although the hiring manager mentioned a few things that sounded good such as not micromanaging and offering flexibility, he also said and did a few things that came off highly inappropriate to me and came across like he may have some gender bias issues. 1) He referred to me as "young lady" at least twice during the interview. This rubbed me the wrong way because girls that are 12 years old and younger get referred to as "young lady" when they are being scolded by a parent. Being that I am an established working professional, it was highly inappropriate to refer to me as anything other than my name. 2) He gave me unsolicited advice in response to my answer to one of his direct interview questions and then called it "coaching." This was very odd because, I am a job candidate, not a subordinate. You "coach" people who already work for you, not people who are considering working for you and barely know you. Him doing that came across as a thinly veiled attempt to gain control over the situation while belittling me. I had a problem with his tone as well as he took on this paternal, fatherly tone with me. Since he assumed he knew why I handled the situation the way that I did, I tried to explain more context to him and he kept cutting me off while I was trying to explain while insisting I do as he suggested. It's never a good thing to tell someone that their judgment is wrong as this was not a black and white circumstance. Just because someone doesn't handle something the way that you would, doesn't give you the right to "coach" them. There's more than one way to skin a cat. The fatherly/authoritative undertones throughout the interview definitely didn't resonate with me and sent this company straight to the bottom of my desirability list. I hope that this organization considers "coaching" this manager before he makes someone else feel as bad as he made me feel during the interview. I am sure they do not want their reputation branded in such a way. I will consider sharing this feedback directly with the company as well should they ever reach out to me again.
