    Interview process was streamlined to accommodate my schedule. Four stages were combined into one. The team at JPL was very friendly overall, especially the president. Would have liked the opportunity to work there, but with no offer I'll still learn from the experience.

    Hiring process seem a little disorganized. I went through the interview process here twice because their recruiter failed to follow up the first time around. Then I was approached again separately for another interview and the team had no idea I had already interviewed with their recruiter. After two interviews the second time around and driving an hour to complete an in person interview, I never even got the courtesy of them telling me I didn’t get the job. I understand that people get busy and I even understand that I might not have been a great fit for the team but not even getting a response from them was really a low blow.

    The interview process with JPL was painless. I submitted my application and was contacted by their HR Manager in a very timely fashion. After a phone screening, I was asked to come in for an in person interview. I got the opportunity to take a tour of the building and meet with three different people from the company. Once my interview was over, I heard back within a few days. Overall, it was one of the best interview processes I have experienced due to it being so quick and thorough.

    My first contact with JPL was a phone screening by a recruiter who was assisting with talent acquisition for this role. Coming out of this call, I provided some materials that illustrated past work. A second phone interview was scheduled with the director of this department which was then followed by an in-person interview and skills demonstration. This included a presentation to a group of employees so that they could gain an understanding of my presentation style and experience. Attendees also had the opportunity to ask questions as it related to what I presented and my experience as it related to the role. Two 1-on-1 interviews (director of department and company owner) followed this presentation. There were three additional calls that discussed the role as it evolved over time based on the company needs and my skill set prior to an official offer.

    The reason I rate this process as "difficult" is because it's not your traditional interview of years past. That said, there's value in the process. It allows them to see your strengths and multiple touch points for you to gain a comfort on whether or not to join the organization based on the people you meet and the discussions you have.
