A similar experience to many of the recently posted ones where everything was going smoothly and then everyone seemed to drop off the face of the earth.
I had a good phone screening followed by a great interview with the hiring manager, who told me she'd refer me to her regional VP for a final interview. I heard nothing for two weeks and followed up - she told me that the interview process was taking longer than expected, but that I could anticipate a call from the VP in the next few days to schedule a final interview.
Almost two weeks later, I got a call from someone in HR who'd been advised by the VP to call me to discuss a part-time entry-level bank teller position in a different city, for less than half the compensation of the position I'd applied for. I explained the situation and she said there must have been a mistake and that she would call me back.
That was two weeks ago, and nobody's taken my calls or responded to my emails since. I made one final call to the hiring manager and it went straight to voice mail, so I politely left one asking what the status of my application was. 15 minutes later, I received an automated email saying I hadn't been selected for the position and they'd chosen an internal candidate instead. Incredibly insulting.
