Entretien de Customer Service Assistant

Employé anonyme - Bristol, Angleterre (Royaume-Uni)
Offre acceptée
Expérience positive
Difficulté moyenne

Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 3 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien à Lidl (Bristol, Angleterre (Royaume-Uni)) en octobre 2020.

Entretien

The application process starts with filling out an application on their website and then going through an online assessment process where you have to respond to situations in a way that you would if you had the job.
Then if you're successful they phone you for a brief 10 minute telephone interview where they ask you basic questions about your employment history, why you want the job and things like that.
If you're successful at that stage, the phone interviewer will set up an interview with the store manager and the assistant manager (at least that's who interviewed me) and then you go in for a 30 minute in person interview.
At the in person interview, they'll ask you a bunch of questions about your employment history, they'll give you another situation where you're asked to prioritise tasks in the store, they ask you what you know about Lidl...
Then they give you a clipboard and tell you to walk around the store trying to point out things that you think are good and things that you think are bad.
After that, the interview is over. They offered me the job the same day via a phone call.

Hiring process was so straight forward. After passing the online test, I received a phone call where I was asked a few questions surrounding the role (why Lidl, can I work at 5am, can I handle heavy lifting- no injuries etc). This process lasted 5 minutes, the interviewer was lovely.

I was then invited to a face to face interview with the area manager and the store manager. (This was the first and last face to face interview- says first stage but there is only one stage- strange). Again, lovely interviewers- stressed that the interview would be super informal. Asked me about myself which was followed by 6 competency based questions and that was it. All in all, super relaxed and easy interview.

Tip #1- smile smile smile, say please and thank you, talk to them about their day, wish them a nice week- make a good first impression. Might seem so obvious but you will stand out so much more (“interviewers make a decision in the first 10 seconds”)

Tip #2- relate answers back to how the customer was so happy in the end. At the end of the day, they are the priority! May also seem super obvious but they told me about how so many people directed it back to how it benefited themselves- wrong

It was fine, the area manager and store manager sit in a room with you, ask about your previous work experience, and ask a bunch of "Give an example where..." questions

Online assement then an interview in person which was straight forward and made me feel at ease.
The interview process was any easy back and forth talking about situations that could arise and what you would in such situations.
Example would be if a customer wanted an item we no longer stocked.

Went in, directed to side room. Very hot in there but the two members of staff were nice. Very understanding and interested in what I had to say. Felt slightly rushed but that's Ok, I'm just glad I got the experience of the interview... slightly gutted I wasn't accepted for the job.

I applied online and had to answer screening questions whilst taking an online assessment. The assessment is answering questions based on scenarios you could face in your role. It is all about prioritizing you workload and some numeracy questions involved too. If you pass that stage you will be invited to an interview. Mine was very laid back with an area manager and store manager. The interview is mainly on experience and your strengths/weaknesses. I was asked the usual competency based questions which you should answer using the star method.

First got an email to book a slot for a telephone interview, then invited for a group assessment at the store with store manager and area manager. Area manager gave a little bit of information about lidl and what the job entailed then each person was asked a series of questions, all the same questions. We were then individually given an in depth 1 to 1 interview with either the area or store manager. This whole assessment takes approximately 45 minutes. Do research on lidl beforehand as you will be need to know about it's history

    Candidat à l'entretien anonyme - Great Yarmouth, Angleterre (Royaume-Uni)
    Aucune offre d'embauche
    Expérience négative
    Entretien facile

    Candidature

J'ai passé un entretien à Lidl (Great Yarmouth, Angleterre (Royaume-Uni)) en décembre 2016.

    Entretien

Applied on line and a few days later I had a telephone interview, this was very standard stuff Why do you want to work for Lidl etc took five minutes. Another couple of days passed and I was invited to interview.

This was broken down into three stages; Work trial sorting through fruit and veg and cleaning some glass, they approached you while you were doing this asking things like what you're doing now what you're looking for etc, I'm not entirely sure what they get from you from this bit though over than some free labour.

Secondly we had to do a bit of roleplay on the till, this was fairly easy just pretend to scan some things through and act like a by the book sales assistant I assume this was to throw you a bit of a curveball and see how you cope with unexpected pressure.

After that was a face to face interview asking in a little bit more depth some of the questions you'd been asked earlier, however at this point they didn't really ask me much and mostly sat there telling me about the role, they noticed I knew an employee of theirs from working with her before in another company, they gave each other a look which at the time I felt was a good sign as they often say who you know helps more than what you know but this turned out not to be the case and perhaps resulted in the opposite? It felt at this stage like they'd already made up their mind and it was a very much going through the motions of phase. They said I would find out before Xmas (interview was a few days before)

On the 23rd I believe I found out I was not successful, no real reason given just the copy and paste more suitable candidates answer, I was very unclear what had gone wrong as I had misinterpreted the interview as going well.

I would apply again in the future despite my experience as it is a well paid job but I would be sure to ask more questions to them, my advice ask for a little feedback while you're there.
