It was relatively easy because it was their summer workready program for highschool student. As a highschool student you just need to send an application with a code attachment. This was what I remembered the process being about 5 years ago. It might have changed.
- I don't remember their being any as I was only apart of the process a a highschool student, you just need a code during the application process.

After I submitted an application, someone there called me to interview me on the spot, giving me zero notice or time to prepare, which was kind of frustrating and in my opinion, not very considerate to me as a candidate. I thought I messed up the interview, so was happy to receive an email asking me to prepare a mock-up of a press release. I did the work, sent it the next day, and waited. I never heard back, even after I followed up for feedback/news TWICE over the course of a couple of months. Never even got an acknowledgement of receipt. Super rude - it's one thing to ghost someone after a phone screen, but to have them do actual work for you and then never get back to them? Seemed shady and unprofessional, and it tarnished my opinion of the org.
- What about our mission resonates with you?

Initially, I met with the CFO and Office Manager who provided a LOT of information about the organization (maybe too much negative info) and didn't ask me one question. I then was interviewed by the CEO and a few other senior leaders. This interview was very friendly and appreciate their insight. I was not offered the position and that's fine but I was informed by a "Dear John" letter versus a personal phone call or email. As I was interviewing for their HR Director position, this was very disheartening and unprofessional to treat a final candidate this way.
- This position is not a senior leadership position. How would you handle that?

Staff were very welcoming as soon as I walked in the door. They made me feel comfortable while waiting and communicated with me when they would be ready for the interview. During the interview, there were three people each of whom asked questions. It really felt like a conversation in which they explained parts about the position and allowed me to ask questions for clarification.
- They asked about challenges I might have with the position.

First there was a phone interview, then an in person interview and then a job offer. The interview is with two people and they were very nice. The phone interview was quick. They told me I wouldn't know if I had the job for about a week, which was tough because the job would start the next week and I already have a part time job. They actually contacted me through the phone and email about 3 days after the interview and offered me the job.
- How do you react to change?

The hiring was easy. I had my interview at the South Philadelphia library, and they asked me questions like "What are your future goals?" or "Why do you want to work at the library?". Honestly so long as you volunteer at your library long enough for them to know you then you'll be set. I had volunteered for a couple months before I applied for the job. That was probably the main factor as to why I got hired.
- "What qualities can you provide that others can't?"
