      Entretien

My experience with their onsite interview felt like I was 1 of 100 people they had to churn through that day. I got a "tour" of the office that was nothing more than the recruiter waiving at a gym and kitchen on the first floor. I wasn't offered a look at any of the four other floors where people actually work, so I got absolutely no sense of the office culture. The interview itself was two one-on-one interviews, back to back, about 30 minutes each. The first was with the hiring manager and was much more formal. It was fine, with normal questions about my current sales performance, average deal size, and situational questions (tell me about a time where you...). However the interviewer never opened up with me, and just seemed to work through his list of questions without any real connection. He left very abruptly too while I was asking him questions. The second interview was with a sales leader in a different vertical, who was much more open and friendly, and seemed to just be gauging culture fit. A couple of softball questions and we were pretty much done. After I was walked out, I couldn't help but feel like the Podium team put in the minimum possible effort. Given that I was contacted by their recruiter and took time out of my work day to visit, that was disappointing.

They rescheduled the meeting multiple times. Then they showed up late. They then proceeded to give the most unprepared interview I have ever had, while walking away from their laptop multiple times. Body language couldn't be more obvious that they didn't care I was there. They questions themselves were pretty standard: How do you currently work deals, Why do you want to work at podium. Etc. I did think it was funny that they gave me a lecture about needing to research the company more before an interview (fair) while they clearly didn't prep for the meeting at all. It was too bad because the first interview I had with them from their HR team was incredibly professional and sharp. The woman who ran it did an incredible job, But the second one was a total cluster.

Casual, panel of 3 interviewers, They asked me a slew of questions about history, but more questions about how I would approach prospecting in different situations. Overall it was a positive experience, all 3 interviewers were managers, and I ended up working for one of them

Managers were nice enough but seems they were looking for someone with direct tech sales experience and I was out of the running from the start - definitely not my strongest interview anyway. Cheers to the recruiter for putting me forward - he was pretty hopeless with follow up. Gotta learn how to deliver bad news my dude, it's literally the job and super bad for your personal brand as a recruiter. Nice enough guy.
