J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien à Public Interest Network en novembre 2018.

    Entretien

After two interviews and two skills tests, I was told the next step was a yes or no decision. When a high-ranking person requested an hour-long phone call with me, I assumed it was an offer negotiation. It turned out to be a third interview, which I bombed because I was completely unprepared. I explained to the interviewer that I had been given incorrect information about the purpose of the meeting, and I hoped she would invoke the organization's principle of accountability to hold the second-round interviewer responsible for what he had told me, but she laughed it off and it was pretty clear that she was blaming me. In my follow-up email I explained again what had occurred, but all that happened was that there was no offer and they declined to give me any feedback on why. Overall, the organization seemed pretty sloppy, and in hindsight I'm glad they didn't invite me to get involved with that.

The skills tests were kind of fun, though - just disappointing that a senior staffer is giving out wrong information about the hiring process.

The interview process included an online application followed by a written survey which allowed you to expand upon your service passions and skills. It took less than two hours to complete the written portion of the application.

    Entretien de Chief of Staff

There were a couple of detailed questions in the application process that could be answered quickly. The second round required detailed research & analysis to evaluate strategic thinking and writing abilities. The third round was completely disappointing. After confirming the interview day, time and person I would be meeting with, the interviewer had to fly out to another meeting earlier in the day and no one contacted me. They had me meet with another staff member. That person admitted he only had 5 minutes while I waited in reception area to review my resume. He certainly didn't review my written responses. He told me about the organization broadly but could not describe the position's duties to me at all! He did mention that he was sure someone had told me I was way out of the pay range, however no one had spoken to me about it at all.

    Questions d'entretien d'embauche

    • He asked me three total questions. Why I left; If my old organization was in the Green Group; and how I would approach Climate Change in current political climate. Otherwise, he spoke about himself and his narrow area of work which really didn't provide me any insight or provide an opportunity for me to engage.   Répondre à cette question

Best chances of hire is as an organic hire after gaining canvassing experience. There's a phone interview first and the a second round interview, typical a skype or some time of video chat, and then a short waiting period.

It was a 30 minute phone interview that was very conversational in nature. Standard questions about leadership roles and past work experience. Given the political nature of the organization, politics of course came up, so be prepared to spout off your opinion on something near and dear to your heart, just make sure it's in line with the organization's values.

I don't even know where to begin expressing my frustration with the entire interview process. I applied to this position excited to potentially work for a company working to make a positive change on the world. So I answered their application questions, wrote a cover letter and sent in my application.

I received a notification the next day that I was advanced to the next round of interviews and asked to complete a series of questions and tasks and return my responses back to them within 48 hours. I double checked their Glassdoor and there were dismal reviews. From low salary to lack of professionalism etc. things were not looking like the position I had envisioned, but I figured I would give them the benefit of the doubt and complete the questions to see if maybe this position was different.

I spent hours writing up answers to their situational analysis questions, and coming up with an event plan and an event budget! As someone with event planning experience event budgets are no joke. Many places will not give you their prices up front, so you will typically need to go through a quote process, which 48 hours starting on a Thursday night does not really allow for especially if it is a hypothetical quote and you have work the next day.

So my responses were through to them, I was pushed to the next round and a "phone interview" was scheduled. Well when I called the interviewer I found out the position that I applied for had been filled. He started trying to talk to me about an opening in their headquarters. I live almost 2,000 miles away from their headquarters! Did he even bother looking at the address on my resume before getting on the phone with me? So he gives me the contact information of someone who might have more information about the latest job openings in my area but now their office is closed.

So I call the next day. No answer. Left a voicemail.

Followed up again the next day. Finally I get the new point of contact on the phone. He says he will send me a link to their job board so I can see if any positions interest me. I get his email, and he doesn't even spell my name right. I go to look at the job board, but wait -- THE SAME POSITION I APPLIED TO THAT I WAS TOLD WAS CLOSED IS STILL ON THERE !!!

Are you kidding me? How unprofessional and disorganized can you be. Seriously so frustrated I put so much time into applying to a place that proved their negative reviews right. To anyone thinking about applying, don't waste your time.

Short and efficient; interviewed with 2 people, one in person and one prior by phone. They were friendly and enthusiastic and ready to answer my questions. When I had specific questions about benefits, they went out of their way to get my questions answered. They wouldn't budge on salary because they have a pretty rigid pay scale for each position based on predetermined factors.

I got an email asking me to schedule an interview, I filled out the online form. Then someone called me on the phone at the appointed time, and the interview was about 30 minutes. I got asked a lot about how to do organizing/what issues I care about/how I would tackle these issues. Then I had two more interviews, one on Skype and another in person. The in-person interview was intimidating.

I took more issue with the application process which involved the employer asking for your ACT and SAT scores - really?? For a job that requires a college degree?? I have a gradate level education and that was the one area the employer didn't ask any questions about GPA or courses taken. If they are basing interviews and hiring off of high school performance that's pretty pathetic.

Waited several weeks and had a relatively easy interview but never heard back.

The communication involved in this process was extremely disorganized. Confirmation emails would come back blank/as generic templates. The first step was a phone interview which was pleasant and relaxed. The in person interview was awkward, as the interviewer was impersonal and very obviously judgmental. There was no followup after the interview with a decision, even after I emailed the interviewer inquiring on the status of the job. I had to go through channels above the interviewer to receive an answer.
