    The each stage of the interview process was rescheduled a comical amount of times.

    The interview process is incredibly impersonal and completely script driven. They ask no questions outside of the script and it's hard to get any sense of the interviewer's personality.

The second round interview will be more craft-focused and likely will consist of open-ended questions regarding hypothetical situations and how I would respond to them.

    I was really impressed by the interviewing process at Riot, and it left me with a very positive impression of the organization. I didn't have any of the issues described in previous reviews which suggested improvement to me. Without prompting they talked very frankly and openly about their culture and they ways that they have looked to improve it; they were happy to go in-depth about any concerns I had, and did not skirt around the issue. I was open that I don't play League of Legends and nobody minded.

    Much of the interview process was culture based and was focused on leadership skills. The recruiter was very clear about the process and how to prepare. The screening involved a behavioral conversation and a simple technical screening around a simple algorithm question (which I didn't enjoy, but did fine on). The onsite was a few hours of conversation around collaboration/leadership/teamwork ability. There were two hours of in-depth technical interviewing, like diagramming a distributed system or psuedo-coding a web application. The virtual on-site interviews were all fair, structured well, and were well suited to my abilities.

    I was given an offer by Riot but couldn't accept right now for mostly personal reasons, which they were very understanding about. They're definitely high on my list once I am in a place to join them.

    Process: Recruiter, "cultural fit" interview, technical interview

    Time: 20 minutes, 90 minutes, 90 minutes over the course of ~3 weeks (was during pandemic so all remote via phone, google hangouts, virtual whiteboard)

    Disclaimer: Riot doesn't have true Site Reliability positions at the time of writing this but these senior engineer roles mentioned overlap quite a bit and I really wanted to work at Riot. So YMMV.

    The recruiter was great, he took a different approach to recruiting for sure, super friendly. He found 3-4 additional positions and we discussed all of them and tried to find the one that made the most sense. I ended up getting processed for a slightly different role that seemed like it might align better.

    I was setup with a cultural interview shortly after that. 90 minutes of questions that would put you through a hypothetical scenario and see what you would do. Lots of scenarios and real life examples of problem solving. Also a few questions specifically about Riot. This interview was also great, the interviewer was easy to talk to and made 90 minutes feel very short.

    The technical interview was a little different: 90 minutes again, but the interviewer came in with a completely different energy than the first two people I'd dealt with so far. The first half was diving into my experience, really pressing for details and things like, "Why did you decide to choose that technology instead of X or Y", continuing, it felt like, until they could find some weaknesses in the design.

    The second half was a Hacker Rank test that I totally muffed instructions on and took me forever to dig myself out of, and could have been solved in about 10 minutes if I wasn't already rattled from the first half.

    We took the last 10-15 minutes to discuss the actual role/team and it was a good exchange that helped me get an idea of the responsibilities.

    Overall, everyone seems genuinely happy to work there and it was a pleasure interviewing. The recruiting staff is very warm and accommodating too.

    I was contacted by Riot Games for a position for which I appeared to be a perfect candidate. It was exactly what I was doing at the job for which I was laid off. I was very excited to be contacted by them because they were not on my radar, although three of my previous managers from the company I just left worked here and would have recommended me.

    The recruiter scheduled me for an interview that was described as a culture and diversity interview. I thought it went well and I liked the QA manager who conducted the interview. The next day I heard they were moving on with other candidates so I must have failed the culture and diversity interview.

    I hate to say it left me with a really bad taste somehow. I am a 60 year old white male, so was it because I didn't meet the diversity? They could easily see that on my LinkedIn profile, so that seemed very strange that they would have contacted me for this perfect position. I didn't think it could be culture because I had just spent the last 10 years working for a gaming company with a very similar culture. I will never know as they never give feedback.

    Just beware that this is a really strange interview process and your skills may fit exactly for the position, but they value other things more I guess.... and in today's climate I guess I get that...

      Ask yourself, why Riot? Think about if/why Riot resonates with you in particular, rather than focusing on "why are you looking now" or "why are you interested in the gaming industry"
      Review our values and be prepared to answer questions around:
      Customer empathy, self-awareness, and continuous improvement in the workplace
      Past professional experiences relating to these values, e.g.
      How do you deal with conflict?
      How do you collaborate with others for alignment and delivery?
      How do you give/receive feedback?

    Hr gave me a brief about 2-3 mins with a crappy signal. When I ask her more information about the working environment and working progress she said she can not tell me more. Then tell me if I want to know more about this job I need to go there to experience myself and everybody’s feeling is different. Btw, we were talking about a position that needs to relocate oversee. This answer doesn’t make sense for me.

    Was contacted by a recruiter for a position I was slightly over qualified for. The interviewer showed up 20 minutes late to the call. Spent 10 minutes interviewing and was rushed off the call. The starting salary was far below the market rate. I was ghosted with no response to follow up. Very unprofessional would not recommend wasting time here.

    Online Hacker Rank , behavioral and technical phone screen. Just avoid dont waste your time. Interview outcome is not related to technical performance. They dont even provide feed back which says volumes about their process. Every thing takes a week or more from scheduling to knowing the outcome. It took 3 weeks just for hacker rank & phone screen.

    Hacker rank is easy and phone screen is review of hackerrank solutions. Seems they are not interested in technical skill but some thing else beyond technical skills. My interaction with them just reinforced the similar feedback provided by other ppl, their hiring process is geared towards forming a cult rather than hiring a professional.

    This was one of the least-skilled recruiters with which I have ever spoken. She asked me a list of four basic screening questions, none of which exhibited or elicited any knowledge of either the recruiting industry or video games, and that was it. After waiting for a response after four weeks, I requested a status and was sent a canned reply. I may have dodged a bullet.
