Entretien

Two phone interviews, one with a current PM, the second with the hiring manager. Both asked reasonable questions, wanted to know my background and experience. Had to wait 4 weeks between phone interview and in person interview. Met with variety of employees that I'd be working with, the hiring manager struggled with decision to hire me because I did not have any official PM experience but have PM skills. Waited another 3 weeks to hear the decision, kept checking in with HR, kept being referred to as a "top candidate".

    Adecco contacted me, telling me it was a "contract to hire" position. Adecco only did a cursory interview over the phone, but quickly decided I was a fit for the position. I interviewed with a director at Roche who placed a very high emphasis on "soft" skills, and then told me she wanted to bring me on board with the team as soon as possible. The interview was only an hour long and one-on-one. Fifteen minutes after the interview an offer was made. One note of caution: If Adecco brings you in for such an interview, don't make the mistake of calling the position "contract to hire" as this raised the interviewer's eyebrows.

    The base pay was good, the Adecco benefits were OK. I think that this was a great opportunity in terms of an improvement over the work I'm currently doing and a good way to get my foot in the door at Roche. With the offer in hand, I looked at the trade of a 1hr+ commute each way and relocating to that side of Indy. I found that neither option was favorable for my family life, or I would have accepted.

    I had an initial phone interview and then got invited to a F2F to Basel, where I met managers and members of the team. I also had a phone interview later with someone who could not be present during the F2F. While the interviews themselves were positive, the communication during the whole process was intermittent, slow and different to what was outlined at the end of the interview (e.g., "we will make a decision by the end of the week" meant rather 2-3 weeks).

    Apply online, telephone call with HR, video call with prospective manager, Skype Skype call with a panel of 4 (not including prospective manager), final interview with exec (video conference). Position was for an affiliate office, so did not offer the usual courtesies you would expect from a large international company (very "local" process). Surprisingly unprofessional and unpleasant process at times, however, this may have been cultural issue rather than company process. Be prepared to have to push for dates/flexibility on interview times, push for any information beyond the online information, come prepared with as many questions as possible for HR as there is little information provided in advance of any decision making. Be prepared to negotiate heavily for everything from a car park and annual leave to a relocation package and working hours.
