    Entretien de Consultant

    Employé anonyme
    Offre acceptée
    Expérience positive
    Difficulté moyenne

    Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 6 semaines. J'ai passé une entrevue à Slalom.

    Entretien

Hiring process began with a phone screen with a recruiter to gauge prior experience and interest in the firm.

1 hour technical screen with a Solution Architect

1 hour phone screen with Solution Principal, half tech screen and half culture fit

2 face to face in the West Hollywood office (had to be two separate visits due to scheduling conflicts) with practice leads / GM level for fit and alignment with company values.

Overall the process too approximately 5-6 weeks because of scheduling logistics on their side (very busy hiring now).

    Questions d'entretien d'embauche

    • Tech screening questions consist of database architecture and optimization, in-depth on cloud technologies used and projects you have accomplished.

Questions regarding cultural fit and how you align with the Slalom core values.   Répondre à cette question

Never thought I would be writing one of these type of reviews but...
Did many informational interviews, was referred by a higher-up employee. I connected with two separate HR people as well as several analysts. One of the HR folks said, "we won't be the ones to make you wait; I know you have a few offers/timelines you need to meet, so we'll get you in the office as soon as we can". Amazing conversation, 12/10, blown away. Was very riled up and excited for a chat in office.

Then asked, a week later, when the interview would take place. No answer. Emailed other HR person inquiring when. "We'll get back to you on the dates as soon as possible."

I thought to myself, "wonderful". Two weeks later, still nothing. Emailed again -- the one who was super nice never replied to me again. The other said "Friday is the day where we are trying to set up a date." Sure enough, on Wednesday, I receive another email. At this point, it's been two and a half months since the start of my contact with Slalom. It says, "we have to cancel interviews for now, but will get back to you asap on when the new date is." The new set date is 3-4 weeks from the date in which the email is sent.

Since then, never heard back. Am not surprised. It's incredibly insulting, when I have talked many times over the phone and have emailed back and forth upwards of 14 times. I have found another employment opportunity in the meantime, and of course, have never received a "set date" back from Slalom. If you aren't planning on hiring or having me on coming into the office, just say so. The lengthy back and forth is inexcusable -- please do not waste my time. Will be telling others about this negative experience as I have interviewed with numerous companies of all sizes and have never been treated this way.

    Entretien

Slalom's interview process is a true reflection of the company's core values and approach to work in general. My experience was not rushed and played out over multiple phone calls, but that's exactly the timeline that worked for me. I think the timeline will differ for everyone based on their situation and the need for the position they are applying for

    Questions d'entretien d'embauche

    • Very individualized. Related to my specific background, what my professional priorities and goals were. Life experience, team role based. A few behavioral. No gotcha questions, just felt like a genuine interest in making sure Slalom was the right fit for me and I was the right fit for Slalom   1 réponse

    Entretien de Software Engineer

    Candidat à l'entretien anonyme - Austin, TX (États-Unis)
    Pas d’offre d’emploi
    Expérience négative
    Entretien facile

    Candidature

J'ai postulé via une recommandation d'un employé. J'ai passé une entrevue à Slalom (Austin, TX (États-Unis)).

    Entretien

I have been interviewing with a bunch of tech companies including Google, Facebook and other big companies. A friend of mine recommended me to Slalom (Austin) and I had couple of technical rounds which I cleared easily.
I had an in-person meeting with the interviewer in Austin.

It was the worst interview I've ever had.

Right off the bat, the interviewer seemed to have the attitude as if they were doing a favor on me by giving me a job. I've been talking to several other companies which pay much better than Slalom and I've always found them to be humble, respectful and felt as if they wanted me to join their company.

Here, it was the opposite. He seemed pretty arrogant about their 7 ?? offices and 4004 employees. I felt as if this would be a job where my creativity wouldn't be valued and I'd just end up being the employee no. 4005.

It felt as if I was interviewing for a position of a Walmart salesperson or a McDonalds counter crew. I asked for a salary which was above their pay range.

They ended up rejecting me. I guess because they pay such low salaries as compared to other tech companies, they want people who'd have nowhere else to go except Slalom.

If you have any other option, I'd recommend to go with that other company. Stay away.

Just for the record, I ended up being hired for a company in Silicon Valley.

    Questions d'entretien d'embauche

    • Usually people who interview you generally start off with asking you about the projects you have done, followed by trying to tie up the common threads in those project. They try to gain a perspective on how you accomplish your goals.

The person I was interviewing at Austin was above all this. His interrogation methods included gems like -

Him: "Tell me about your self!"

Me: <I proceed to provide a basic description for such a basic question>

Him: "I don't feel like I know you very well."

Me: <Roll my eyes!>   Répondre à cette question

Interview process was a series of 1-on-1 interviews with my people manager and others that I would be working or otherwise interacting with. Everyone did their due diligence, were prepared, and familiar with my resume along with plenty of questions to vet my past experiences and to understand my thought process. Interviews were very conversational and overall was a positive experience. They were extremely flexible in regards to my schedule and coordinating throughout the interviewing process.

Two phone interviews and two on-site interviews - very warm and welcoming. Thoughtful, respectful questioning. Was asked to prepare a response to a case study. Everyone at Slalom responded promptly and delivered on whatever they promised.

    Entretien de Product Manager

    Candidat à l'entretien anonyme - Austin, TX (États-Unis)
    Pas d’offre d’emploi
    Expérience neutre
    Entretien facile

    Candidature

J'ai postulé via une recommandation d'un employé. Le processus a pris 1 jour. J'ai passé une entrevue à Slalom (Austin, TX (États-Unis)) en mai 2018.

    Entretien

I had applied online for the Product Management position and met with recruiter over coffee. The recruiter was extremely nice and had a great conversation about the company, history and my role.

A day later I got an email basically saying that they felt I didn't demonstrate in the interview why Slalom was of interest and a long term home. They also said they walked away with not a clear understanding of why the opportunity was an interest to me outside my current situation at work. Basically, I didn't show enough enthusiasm.

The interviewer didn't not ask any technical questions about their current role they were interviewing for and what my accomplishments were, how I achieved them, what my role was and any obstacles I had to overcome on any other projects.

Being a co-founder of a company in the past with nearly 50 employees and managing an enterprise platform for several fortune 500 companies, I have a wealth of experience and passion for what I do. Hiring many people myself, I want to know what a person's strength's and weaknesses are, what they have accomplished, what their role was and also obstacles they encountered and how they overcame them.

My advice to anyone applying, just be super enthusiastic and excited about working there and why you want to work there so much. I'll add one more thing, I don't think the right questions were asked. I think the job of HR or a talent acquisition manager should be to vet the candidates qualifications to make sure they fit the role. I think it's up to the hiring manager to determine culture fit and make the final decision.

Nothing bad to say, but thought the process and questions could have been better. I do appreciate the opportunity.

    Entretien

The entire process from initial call to offer took less than two weeks. Having built teams and hired people myself, I felt the entire process was extremely professional and pleasant:
    1. Recruiting manager was very efficient and accommodating. Rather than sending out emails like what everyone else does, he would text the right person right away to get me answers of question on the same day if not same hour. This is a great reflection on the company’s teamwork and professionalism.
    2. Everyone I met and spoke with on the phone was very professional and kind, this makes me feel very welcoming as a new person and a team you want to work with day in and day out.
