After turning in an application at the store, I was called by the Store Manager and asked to come in next day for an interview one on one. We sat outside on a bench in the shopping center and she asked me specific questions about my experience in the retail world. I tried to focus my answers on the years of customer service experience I had even though it was not in retail, and all the other jobs I'd had that required attention to detail, multi-tasking, and recordkeeping, for example. My advice is to try to appear upbeat, confident, willing and able to stay positive no matter what, and when given the chance emphasize that the customer must walk away from her experience so happy that she'll bring back her mother, tell her friends, and become a lifelong Soma customer.
