    Initially approached by an external recruiter. Group phone interview followed by an on-site panel interview and a horrific skills test. The only trouble in the process was the internal recruiter, who apparently had her feelings hurt when she found out about the missed opportunity. She fought the approval and delayed a decision on employment by about three weeks. Eventually I was offered the position.

    Initial phone screen with Human Resources gal was very negative. She was pushy, condescending and definitely made me not want to pursue the position at Technicolor. I was not impressed at all and extremely turned off by her.

    So I got an interview call after one of my friends working there, referred me. Although I am an international student here and I am aware of my thick accent, the guy on the phone had an even thicker accent than I have! Nevertheless, he was a cool guy and turned out to be my mentor during the internship. He asked many questions on MPEG standard (e.g. Intra and Inter frame predictions, CABAC and so on), No coding question was asked. The whole interview took one hour and all of that involved asking non-trivial questions and at the end he asked me Do you have any idea to research on when you'd join here. I had some ideas and that guy liked it, so I guess that's why I got the internship. So be prepared about that kind of question.

    I found the job through a recruiter. Initially, I interviewed with the recruiting agency. Next, I interviewed with the HR director on the phone. Next, I visited the office for a 45-minute in-person interview with the employee who would be my boss. This interview turned into a 1.5 hour interview, and was then followed by introductions to other members of the team. A day or so later, I was asked to complete a final, and somewhat unconventional, round of interviews. At 29 years old, I would have been the youngest member of the team, and I was asking for (and ultimately offered) the highest salary in the range. I was asked to give a presentation to about 15 managers and other employees. A few days later, I received an offer.

    Raison du refus

    I found a company that I liked better. I did not particularly want to live in Burbank - I preferred the beach. Although the other company offered substantially less compensation, I liked the culture better (it was a MUCH smaller company) and opted for better lifestyle and lack of bureaucracy instead of $30,000 extra salary + bonus. Best decision in my life.

    Submitted to a Craigslist posting, and was contacted directly by manager - HR coordinator was never involved in the process, nor was then-CEO. Was hired via phone after initial in-person interview, and only met HR person afterwards when completing paperwork.

    Behavioral interview. Very easy going interview. They were just trying to get interns because Technicolor had just bought that sector from Cisco. Total of 7 interns were hired for the summer internship. Some that lived in the area continued to work after summer as part time job.

    Phone in interview followed by face to face with a panel. The Questions were straight forward. One member of the panel grilled me for long about Linux and OS basics. The software lead was looking at the attitude and zealousness. The process was professional.

    The hiring process consisted of a single phone interview. It was a conference call with four researchers, each one asking me to explain some of the previous research projects I had worked on in the past (which were listed on the CV I sent them). For each one, they asked very detailed questions about the approaches including to explain how certain algorithms worked (they obviously knew, they were testing my knowledge), as well as my reasons for choosing the paths I did. Surprisingly enough, there was no coding-type questions, they clearly stuck to the "science" aspect of computer science. But they were very courteous and knowledgeable. I ended up being made an offer a few days later and took it!

    Recruiter called, but had a very outdated resume and not the one I sent (or one I even have a copy of anymore) She was very rude about it, I offered to resend it and she gave me her email, but then got snippy because she was working from home and wouldn't be able to access it. Apparently, Technicolor has not heard of webmail yet, which is in line with the bad reviews about IT resources I've seen on Glassdoor. We started to talk briefly, but her attitude was just so bad, I knew I didn't want to work there. I like to give the benefit of the doubt, but again, this is clearly in line with what I've read on Glassdoor about the HR department. I ended up telling her - thank you, but never mind.
