Entretien de Marketing Manager

Candidat à l'entretien anonyme - Paris
Aucune offre d'embauche
Expérience négative
Entretien dificile

Candidature

" Create a laundry list of marketing ideas, whether an event/promo/etc. Include a 1=2 sentence description for each, topped off with a creative & catchy blog post title for that idea."   Répondre à cette question
  • Dans le dossier à renvoyer: voici un autre des 10 exercices demandés:

Uber has become known for it’s on=demand stunts, which have included Ice Cream Trucks, and Kittens. Come up with a one-day-only on-demand stunt that can be implemented in either your specific city or multiple Uber cities (your choice , with the goal of:
    • creating a ton of social buzz on Twitter/Facebook/Instagram
    • driving a ton of new signups
    • positive PR

Now walk through some of the logistics that will be involved in making your idea come to life. For example: For On Demand Ice Cream Trucks, each city sourced local trucks and drivers, estimated how many trucks they might need given the size of the city and the expected demand, and chose to launch the idea in the middle of the summer, when weather was hot hot hot. Trucks were also only available via Uber for 1 day to drive excitement.

Remember, no stunt idea is too crazy for us. This is the company that brought you Ice Cream Trucks and Kittens at the tap of a button !!!   Répondre à cette question

Applied and heard back from HR fairly quickly. After a screening call I moved on to an interview with another Manager on the team. They were extremely unprofessional, spoke about how work made them want to cry all the time and did not sell the job at all. The HR rep also wrote my name wrong twice in their email correspondences, misspelling my name the first time, and then calling me a completely different name the next. I ended up rescinding my application after those two instances.

A couple of calls - a HR screen and a call with the hiring manager, followed by a case study presentation to a panel where there is Q&A after your presentation.

Took about 6 weeks. HR Screening, followed by call with hiring manager and by a creative exam. After that, they fly you in to the SF office for a final round, back to back interviews with about 6 people in half a day. I was very grateful that they’d help arrange the trip and get me to the headquarter. My experience up til this point was very nice.

However, the onsite wasn’t. The first person that was supposed to talk to me in person never showed up, and I was only notified to call a different person for a virtual interview almost 20 minutes later. Turns out, that person was the most senior person among all that I had to speak to. Most questions I got were behavioral questions. 3 days later, I was told I didn’t get selected for the position.

But a month has passed and I still haven’t received my travel reimbursement...Anybody has the same issue?

The process seemed pretty standard... I had an initial screening call with a recruiter, followed by a second call was with the Hiring Manager, and finally I was invited on-site for an in-person interview with several people.

Going into the application process, I was nervous due to all of the negative commentary on Glassdoor about the "farming of ideas" and the tremendous amount of work that went into the app. I decided to carry on anyway because the job, in my eyes, would be worth it.
First step was a phone screen with recruiter; she was friendly and asked basic questions.
Next, I was given 3 days to complete a "creative exercise" that entailed putting together a Marketing Proposal to launch into new markets, making sure to address several specific questions relating to the launch. Little direction was given on how this should be formatted, and it was definitely a lot to do in 3 days, especially with a full-time job. In total, I spent about 15 hours working on it. (I opted to put together an informative slide deck, PDF)
Next, I had a 1-1 interview with the Hiring Manager. She asked standard interview questions about past experience.
Last step was presenting my creative exercise to a panel of 4. At the conclusion of the presentation, we had Q+A about my proposal + more situational questions.

Overall I would say it was a very positive experience! I put a LOT of work into the application, and at the end they all applauded my effort. Definitely made me feel like my effort was acknowledged and appreciated. And the recruiter was very communicative throughout the process.

Talked with a recruiter for about 15 minutes and was advanced to the next round before the call was over. The next interview was via video chat and was very smooth. The person I spoke with was stepping in for the hiring manager that was on leave, but she was very knowledgable about the team and position. She didn't start any questions with the standard "tell me about a time...," but was creative in asking things about my related experience, professional qualities that I'm working on etc.

I was told that as their next step (if I moved forward) they would issue a project to be presented to a panel. From other interview reviews, this seems standard.

Very through process. Online interview and then presencial phases. Took an analytical exam that lasted 1:30 hours. Reading about the company and everyhting it is up to is essential! They expected me to comment on new products being launched and how could I improve them.

It was ok until I was told I would not receive the job for something that was not defined in the job requirement. I was asked to complete an assignment to solve for a real issue they faced but was turn down for the offer for something not as a requirement. I was given a free ride to interview and back. And people were nice but not a good expereince to feel cheated and used.

HR interview over the phone, led by a request for me to create a (pretty robust) power point deck, led by one 10-15 video Skype with the hiring manager.

One word to describe this process: Shady

This actually happened years ago (back when I wanted to work for Uber, lol) and I was so appalled/disgusted by it that I blocked out the unbelievably poor experience, but now I finally feel compelled to review it. And now it looks like years of treating people poorly has finally bitten Uber in the a**. Hopefully they can turn themselves around into a more reputable company. Here's how my experience went...

    - I applied to a Marketing Manager position
    - They reached back out to me and I had a screening call with HR, she was nice and it went well
    - She sent me a follow up with a request to create a deck for them. Took a look at the assignment and it was quite a heavy ask (if you already have a full time job), but I pulled a good deck together and submitted
    - She came back to me and instead of turning me down right away, she said that she (or the hiring manager?) was disappointed in my work and gave me the opportunity to submit again (this was a little odd and this should have been my first clue)
    - I thought that this meant that they saw potential in me, so I was ready to pull together a stellar deck. I took a day off work to do this
    - I pulled together an amazing deck FULL of ideas and submitted
    - They scheduled a video Skype for me with the hiring manager. We were located in the same city and they couldn't even have me come in for an in-person interview?? That should have been my second clue
    - The second that the guy jumped on Skype with me, I could tell that he was thoroughly uninterested in interviewing me. I had just submitted this amazing deck full of ideas and he barely gave me the time of day let alone ask me to talk about the work that I had just done for the company
    - Obviously, the process didn't progress from there

Uber is probably sitting on piles of ideas from rejected quality candidates and only hiring their fellow 'bros'. All of the news coming out in the past year makes sense to me because my experience with them reflected the same sentiment... they just don't care about people at all.

Not progressing in the interview process was a very good thing.
