I got an email saying they were interested in a recruiter screen. The screen was followed by an in-person manager interview. Everything took a long time to schedule then they expected an immediate answer from me. The manager was more than 10 minutes late to the interview and was barely apologetic. The manager gave me an assignment to do over the weekend. When I submitted it, I never got an acknowledgement for the effort or even a confirmation of receipt. Several weeks went by and I got a boilerplate recruiter email saying they went in another direction, thanks from the recruiting team. Not even from the recruiter I worked with.

    Applied on Linkedin. Contacted by Visa Recruiter. First interview was on phone with hiring manager. Next they set up 3 interviews onsite w 3 team members. After phone interview the recruiter called me to discuss benefits,, salary range etc prior to the onsite. Recruiter was OUTSTANDING. like wow. I wish I could have worked for her. Warm, engaging, transparent, detailed, welcoming, thorough etc. Interviewers not so much. One interview was almost 15 mins late. I waited in a lobby area, then when she arrived she made no comment at all about being late and just started walking towards the meeting room with almost no greeting. during the interview she was checking her phone, yawned a couple times, was looking past me out the window at people. Just seemed distracted. And very dry, could not read her one way or the other. her questions were very textbook (name some problem you had to overcome and how you did it). Other two people were just real conversations, great discussion of my background, how I would handle various situations they are dealing with. I thought it was overall very positive. Beautiful offices in San Fran.

    • Mainly it was a discussion about various payment topics, my experience with those topics. Good phone discussion. Onsite it was much more detail, I passed them a ton of valuable info on many many topics. At one point one said "wow I wish I brought my notepad, this is such great info"   1 réponse

    This is the second year in a row that I have been asked to interview for an executive position with Visa. I am offended and disappointed by their lack of professional conduct:
    1) I was “ghosted” by a hiring manager executive last year after completing two lengthy phone interviews; I was told it looks like I’m a “great fit”; and then I was given a promise that they would bring me into the Foster City HQ office for face-to-face interviews within 10 business days. That never happened. My emails to check in on next steps were professional. I received zero response.
    2) This year, I was contacted by a Visa executive recruiter who stated Visa was excited to chat with me about another executive-level role. I replied within 2 hours. When I didn’t receive a reply to confirm our introductory chat, I sent two follow-up emails. Seven days later, I received a response and apology, and it included a request to have a call the following Monday and for me to share my availability. I accepted the apology and shared my availability. Monday came and went with no contact.

    I am an expert in my field, and I am left shaking my head why a well-known brand in stiff competition for talented candidates would repeatedly treat recruits this way.

    Interview was nothing out of the usual, mainly behavioral as far as questions go. Interviewed me with no intent to hire. Only because of professional relationships with hiring VP. Only generic decline. When asked why, it was stated that I had a strong background and high recommendation.

    Process took a very long time (nearly 4 months all told once the position was approved), all meetings are set up remotely from an out of state administrative center that seems to be very inefficient. However I had great interviews with the hiring manager and internal direct reports. I had two lengthy in person interviews with the hiring manager, plus a phone screen and in person interviews with a few SVPs. The HR scheduling time, background check and responsiveness seemed to drag out the process way more than necessary. In the end it was the right fit.

    I had a nice phone interview with the recruiter. I was told that I was coming into the process late, but would be recommended for a phone interview with the hiring manager. That was the last I heard from them despite my following up with voicemail and email. A couple of months later I received the automated "Thanks-but-no-thanks" email.

    Process is formal and deliberate, with checks and balances to ensure fit within Visa and fit for the role. It takes a while to navigate and turn around between rounds but the communication is professional and thoughtful throughout the process. Good people, you get a sense for the company, and HR does what they do -- filter!

    I work in New York and applied for a position in Singapore as I was looking to move to Asia. I had an initial HR screen on phone and then 3 more interviews on phone - 2 business leaders and 1 HR leader from Asia. The interviewers were very nice and friendly. Phone interviews can be challenging but they went really well. The questions were about my background, why Visa, why the role, fit assessment, etc. There were no technical questions and I thought I had done quite well. Got great feedback from all the interviewers.

    I followed up 2 weeks after initial interviews and I got a reply saying I wasn't selected for the final round as they thought even though I had good experience, when it came to business advisory experience, knowledge of the Asia region etc there were other stronger candidates. I was surprised to hear that as I was not asked a single question about either of the above topics so the judgement was made without actually testing those much.

    In the end it felt a bit disappointing as I felt I wasn't given a fair shot.

    Pretty standard interview process with the hiring managers. LAC HR recruiter brought a refreshing spin to my interview process, exceptional! Felt challenged and compelled to answer his questions, over all a great process well done Visa!
