I think we can use Paired T test .

Hypothesis testing for difference between the two means, if google suppose changes logo, and then you collect number of drop offs for few days, you already have number of drop offs of the last logo, now you can do the hypothesis test H0: Mean1=Mean2 that is no change H1: Mean1!=Mean2 that is there is statistically significant change Based on the distribution and sample statistics, you can now determine whether there is a positive or negative impact.

It's hypothesis testing. Based on the netric could be paired or not paired or even testing for proportions. Also a regression model could be used for controlling other factors.

I proposed a hypothesis test for the proportion of a binomial where each member was its own control. Didn't get the onsite interview but I don't understand what went wrong. Interviewer was more or less knowledgeable, I had a positive impression.
