    Sales Recruiter (SK) reached out to me via InMail. She probably spam blasted her entire network hoping for a bite. I replied and followed up, yet she never replied back! This is such a poor reflection on the company and its HR team.

    I applied to Zenefits through their career site. I have a friend who worked there and had good things to say about the company.

    I was contacted to set up an interview pretty quickly. The day I asked the recruiter if we could reschedule since a client I was working with requested for a call at the same time, and it was an ample opportunity. The recruiter never responded, although I reached out 6 hours in advance. I received a text asking why I was not available and kindly asked the recruiter to check their messages. He acknowledged that I sent an email and said he would text me shortly to reschedule. The texting is fine, but weird to just send texts right from the start.

    I never heard from the recruiter, so the following day, I shot him an email and nothing. I was waiting 48 hours and called his phone, and his VM was filled. I knew people who worked for the company, so they suggested pinging certain people in sales leadership, so I did and still no response.

    About a week later, I tried one last time and got a hold of the recruiter, and he said he had been trying to call me (never happened) and that we can set up a time for the next day. When we had our call, the questions were standard, but he said why you want to work in this position as you are overqualified. I figured overqualified is good, and their culture says they are about growth.

    So we talked about OTE and his concerns, and I said I was not concerned. The recruiter apologized for making assumptions and why he didn't actively call me back but would like me to move to the next step—never heard from Zenefits again.

    You are a company that focuses on people solutions, yet you act so unprofessionally with your candidates. It is quite shocking.

    The interview process took 3-4 weeks.

    I had around 2 phone screens and 2 video interviews where I had to go over my sales experience, sales process, and answer some basic sales questions.

    Interview questions were pretty standard.

    After interviewing with this company for 4 weeks and going through 2 conference calls and multiple screen calls, I was ghosted. I never received a YES or NO, or any type of feedback whatsoever.

    I thought the interviews had gone well and to my surprise I was *GHOSTED*

    This is unprofessional and a major turn off for a company to do with a candidate who has spent so much time with a company. It is particularly bad when the company is an HR Software company.

    The process was comprised of one round of speaking with an internal recruiter on the phone, one remote coding exercise, and a full day onsite interview at their SF office.

    The main focus areas for technical questions during the onsite were object oriented JavaScript and building a layout with CSS.

    While the initial rounds were pretty standard, the onsite interview was marred by a large number of technical issues and logistical failures on their part. This included double booking the interview room. At one point, I was left alone to argue with a rude developer who insisted the room was reserved for a demo. I told him I was there interviewing and had no part in scheduling the room, and he angrily slammed the door on me as he left.

    Asking about the company's past regulatory issues and controversies as a matter of due diligence seemed to be received very poorly by one of the interviewers, as if I had asked about something inappropriately personal.

    The recruiter and the company materials indicated that candidates would receive the outcome of the interview within 5 business days, but I was ghosted despite several follow up attempts. That is until an email CCing the hiring manager got a response from the recruiter a month after the interview.

    Overall, this was a very negative experience.

    Terrible communication with the recruiting team which is ironic given they produce an HR product. Not only did they take over weeks to process my application, they never reached back after asking for my availability (even after several reminders).

    Just be on the top of your game. Do your linkedin research, and know who you're talking to and sell them their own product. You need to sell them yourself, and know how to sell and close the product. Be able to take feedback during the process, adjust, and improve.

    I wasn't actively looking for a new job but someone from the Talent team reached out to me via LinkedIn so I took a phone call. He invited me to come onsite so I came in for an interview and did well. I interviewed with a girl on my team and she commented on how all my answers just hit the nail on the hammer. Before I left, he enthusiastically asked when I could start. I was excited for his enthusiasm but asked if I could meet a few more people from the team before making a decision. I provided my availability and never heard back from him. I followed up three times and was ghosted. I can say that I hope Zenefits will work on a better candidate experience.

    Received phone call from HR said I was doing well and would bring me to onsite interview. But next day, HR called me said they may need more senior guy...
    I totally understand that a startup company needs senior level engineer. But to an interviewee, it is not a good experience........

    The hiring manager really expected me to understand how the company and the software worked. The website honestly did not have much information regarding how the software worked. He expected me to have many questions for him.
