My combination of education expertise and interest.
The Director - the last interview I had. I told him it had taken me about 70 hours to write one of the sample proposals I brought (20 written pages; about 100 pages with all attachments, appendices, and annexes). He said "Well I thought you said you were quick" in a challenging taunting way.

I begged for his pardon, and stated I did not realize this was not quick. . The metrics, which if he would ask such an obtuse question as that, show that he knows nothing about the grant writing field, state that a typical 20 page government grant proposal takes from 50 to 105 hours. The average is 70 hours for the first time you write one - about 50 hours the second time you write on the same topic. This includes all meetings, levels of edit (usually 3) and associated certs, as well as the SF application and attached budget on the grants.gov site. 70 hours is well within the metric, and constitutes about a week and a half of work. So what the h*** he was talking about was unknown to me, except that he showed how precious little he knows about the grant writing field. This leads me to question why he is the Director. To sum it all up, this Director showed his incompetence and I could not work for him. Moins

I spoke with the person about the situation. I stuck with facts and did not let my emotions get in the way. We were able to solve the problem and we now how a good profesional relatonship. Moins

I use calendars, set reminders, communicate clearly with all who are contributing information and set deadlines that are well in advance of a funder's deadline so that we are prepared to submit in advance of the due date. Moins

Begin by finding a mix of expert primary and secondary sources on the topic and then read, digest, and synthesize the sources extensively Moins
The normal questions until the 2nd interview. In the 2nd interview, the supervisor basically mentioned a tense/awkward work environment and seemed to be angry at those in lower positions for wanting to change the company. Asked me if I was okay with not having a seat at the table and for reassurance that their organization is in the right for not doing environmental justice work. Also said they believe employees who live in a state like Ohio for example should not be penalized by a lower salary than someone who willingly chooses to live in California, despite the great disparity in the cost of living. I saw all the bad reviews on here before the interviews but still considered the job because I am passionate about the work the organization does. I do not mind all that much that I didn't get the job because their attitude in the 2nd interview was rude and uninformed.
