    Entretien de Capital Markets

    Candidat à l'entretien anonyme - Londres, Angleterre (Royaume-Uni)
    Aucune offre d'embauche
    Expérience neutre
    Entretien dificile

    Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris +2 mois. J'ai passé un entretien à CIBC World Markets (Londres, Angleterre (Royaume-Uni)) en mars 2019.

    Entretien

In late January, I applied by email after seeing the internship advertised on my university's careers board.

In early March, I had a phone interview with a Director in FICC Sales. The interviewer was friendly and the questions standard: why CIBC? what do you expect to be doing? what do you hope to get out of the internship? + behaviour questions. The interviewer confirmed the format of the internship: 1 internship place, intern for finding work for themselves, freedom to roam desks, London office relatively small with a trading team focused on Canadian equities and FX and an advisory team focused on energy and mining.

With a weeks' notice, in late March, I had two interviews with two directors at the London office. The first interview went poorly. The interviewer arrived agitated and had obviously not read my cover letter or CV. This was due to an earlier fire alarm preventing him from preparing for an important meeting soon after my interviewer. His questions were not ones I had prepared for: why Energy and Infrastructure? (the internship had been advertised as general), what company valuation methods are there? what is Discounted Cash Flow? The second interview was standard and more friendly, but I was pretty mediocre.

I was told the outcome two weeks later.
