    Entretien de Senior Visual Designer

    Candidat à l'entretien anonyme - Emeryville, CA (États-Unis)
    Aucune offre d'embauche
    Expérience négative
    Entretien facile

    Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. J'ai passé un entretien à Nexon M (Emeryville, CA (États-Unis)) en mars 2018.

    Entretien

I was scheduled to have a phone interview with my potential manager (male) and the senior project manager (female).

When I got on the phone it was two men and the one who seemed to think he was leading the interview wasn’t on my schedule. When I tried to ask who he was he kept talking over me. He was SO LOUD I think he was actually yelling into the conference phone with his face only an inch away.

I immediately thought “Oh I can’t work with this guy”. In the following 20 minutes my instincts were validated over and over again.

He started the interview with what I wanted to do which he then quickly lead into an incoherent monologue of what graphic design is and isn’t (note: I am not a graphic designer). The interview was scheduled for 30 minutes and 15 minutes into the call, he’s still going. He starts asking about pieces on my portfolio site in such a way that helped me determine he didn’t review my work before the call. I don’t think he saw my resume either.

The job description detailed “knowledge of UX/UI is a plus” – he says he doesn’t think there are any positions open like this, which then tells me he didn’t read the job description either.

I then ask if, in this position, I would be given dimensions to simply design a branded marketing piece that will be posted on their website, social media, etc. He replies he doesn’t know. He’s then obviously embarrassed he just got unequivocally caught as unprepared for this interview. He then points blame to the HR department saying he doesn’t know what they’re writing.

I could go on but needless to say, the interview stopped at 20 minutes and I immediately let the recruiter know, I wasn’t interested.

The interview process goes both ways. This interview told me people get thrown under the bus. Being the loudest one in the room passes as being in control, when really one is unprepared and gets louder and angrier when it shows.
