    Avantages

Once qualified and accredited your left to work, which suits me. Money is ok, could be better but there is always OT , I work a 4 day week , and can do OT on my rest day which is fantastic, even the odd Saturday, it is what you make it, you either get stuck in and badger all the senior engineers for hints and tricks to make things easier or you make loads of mistakes. I left the Army after 22 years and I’m loving it. Nice brand new van fully tooled!! My van even has a microwave and a water boiler. All in all, I’m happy, good work/home balance and working for a company that is getting bigger and bigger......

    Inconvénients

Outdoors in the winter, rain, snow and wind. But skin is waterproof and your working so hard you soon dry off anyway.

    Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien à Openreach.

    Entretien

I applied for this position twice, once was approximately 2 years ago, the other was around a week ago. I was sent a link to do a video interview. Thought ok this will be fine, I'll just be talking to someone from openreach over the internet instead of having to travel to a center.
Nope, was just a screen popping up witha recording of their employees asking a question then you have 30 seconds to prepare an answer and 2 minutes to answer.
I found it pretty difficult to talk to nobody, and seeing myself on the screen was distracting.

I ended up being rejected from the position. The message was sent from a no-reply email so I tried searching around the openreach website for an email so I could get feedback in order to know what I have to improve on to be more suitable but I had no luck finding one. In the email I recieved I was also told I could reapply in the future but it didn't say how long it would be until I could reapply.

At the end of it all, I'd have much preferred to have an interview with an actual person, or if they insist on doing these automated ones at least have questions that would actually find out about my relevant skills and experience.
