    Avantages

    - The office is located in a great location
    - Most of the team are smart, interesting individuals
    - You occasionally work with exciting clients and projects

    Inconvénients

Echoing a few of the points raised in the below review. My experience at Quietly was mediocre at best, mainly due to the toxic workplace culture that has been allowed to develop over the past few years.

    - There are employees with no management experience in senior roles. These particular employees thrive off creating intense inter-team competition, rather than focusing on nurturing a supportive, collaborative, and trusting work environment.

    - The lack of HR at Quietly was alarming. The leadership team would brush toxicity under the carpet and abusive employees were allowed to freely express opinions that were personal in nature as “feedback”. If there are any performance management protocols in place at Quietly, they clearly do not work.

    - One on one sessions with the leadership team never focused on work performance, they were frequently used to discuss interpersonal relationships.

    - Management had a difficult time hearing specific, constructive, negative feedback about certain employees and would become defensive against these particular individuals.

    - The success of the campaigns was never transparent. When questioned on this, we were merely told “we do very well, all our clients are happy with us”.

    - Aside from a few excellent people, the team is pretentious, arrogant, and spiteful. My experience was similar to that of a playground — a lot of he said/she said, bullying, and cliques. People often would brag in weekly meetings, which created a competitive, unstable atmosphere.

    - The all-white, all-male leadership team lacks diversity. There is a large female presence at Quietly, but it seems to be the case that the leadership team profits from the work of underpaid women.

    - Lastly, the pay is below the market average. My new role gave me upwards of an $18,000 increase to align with the actual market rate.

    Entretien de Product Manager

Candidat à l'entretien anonyme - Vancouver, BC (Canada)
    Aucune offre d'embauche

    Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 1 jour. J'ai passé un entretien à Quietly (Vancouver, BC (Canada)).

    Entretien

Coffee and chat with CEO and CIO
    Very casual
Showed me their renovated office-in-a-townhome setup. Quite cool

After interview, I got the vibe that they really wanted a super rockstar unicorn product manager - one who could drive a Development team, as well as manage day-to-day and strategic/visionary product management tasks. I fit that mold fine and would have happily taken the challenge.

What threw me off was that they also wanted someone who was seasoned in product marketing management as well. Developing GTM strategies, executing them, driving marketing campaigns, etc ... while I was up for the challenge to learn, it's WAY too much to ask of for 1 person to do 3 total functions, and to do it well. They were only offering market rate for a senior product manager too.

In the end, I did not get an offer, but I'm glad I didn't. Would have been a privilege though to be mentored by one of the founders of Hootsuite.
