    Avantages

Fulfilling work, work with some great people (and some not..)

    Inconvénients

Upper management hires extremely unprofessional kids for the director position. They crack under the pressure and they act out. It's all a favorite's game, if you stay on their good side, you get the best opportunities. If they decide they don't like the way you look, or something equally unimportant, then watch out - they'll go out of their way to make things difficult for you. Their values are out of whack, they'd rather pursue childish grudges than utilize their resources as best as they can. This all leads to a mess of an "office", and drives away talented and hard-working employees.

    Conseils à la direction

Hire directors that have experience running on little sleep. Sleeplessness brings out the worst in people! It's important to put strong, solid, and ethically respectable people into stressful positions of power so that you know they won't become monstrous when under a lot of pressure. Upper management needs to have more oversight. As it stands, they are aware of these problems and seem to genuinely not care about anyone director and below. I thought this was "Work for Progress" - not "let's keep all of our bad habits and just pour money on it to trick people into voting how we want." Practice what you preach, W4P, you're just as bad as the rest of them.

    Entretien de Communications Manager

    Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 4 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien à Work for Progress (Philadelphia, PA (États-Unis)) en juin 2019.

    Entretien

After applying, I was asked to take a 2-hour writing test, which included listing my salary requirements. After the test, I was scheduled for a 45-minute phone interview.
Salary was not discussed prior to this point, but the job listing states "Target annual compensation for this position is commensurate with the relevant professional experience and/or advanced degrees that a candidate has. U.S. PIRG offers a competitive benefits package" and the number I had was well within standard ranges for my level of experience.
At the end of the 45-minute phone interview, which went great, the interviewer, who acknowledged they didn't read my writing test, said the position would pay 10-20K below the minimum I had previously asked for. I asked if that was flexible and they said they would check and let me know within 3 days.
2.5 weeks later, I received an email telling me I would not be offered a position, with no specific explanation, and no apology for wasting my time on a written test or phone interview for a position with a salary far below what I could possibly accept, or for falsely implying they might meet my salary request but never following up.
    Don't waste your time.
