Avantages

Bonuses, fair pay, and reasonable work hours for the non designers or engineer positions. CEO at the time was really friendly, sweet, and remembered the names of everyone in all the offices across the US.

Inconvénients

You know. I've sat on this for awhile because I wasn't sure if I wanted to stir this pot again. But even after the fact, this company still gets under my skin. A lot of familiar faces are still running the show and based on what I had to endure as a woman of color, I guarantee not much has changed. I figure if I can save someone else the heartache then it makes what I went through a little worth it. When a company says "we're a family," run in the other direction. They'll hire and fire based on "culture fit" as opposed to "culture add." Aka, if you're not willing to go out and drink and socialize after work, you're going to have a rough time. They're really into personality tests which are in no way scientifically sound and are discriminatory. If you're a person of color be prepared to deal with disparaging remarks about race. Such as being told you look related to the one other person in the company who appears to share your ethnic background. (Yes, that really happened to me.) Hearing microaggressions left and right is pretty commonplace and if HR bothers to read these things you should know that any BIPOC you hire is grumbling when no one is looking. It is that bad. Really any minority should buckle up and know what they're getting into. Including being pulled into HR when you tell a co-worker they're being racist and hurtful.

Thank you for your comments although they are difficult to hear. On behalf of BSA’s leadership team, we sincerely apologize if your experience with our company was not good. Your tenure may have been during a transition time for the Austin studio. We are confident in the rebuilt studio and its inclusive culture. Although we were not aware of any specific microaggressions that were directed towards individuals or groups of staff, we do know that they sometimes occur in and out of the workplace. As a firm we have taken measures to educate employees across all BSA studios on diversity and inclusion so that this doesn’t happen in the future.

Friendly, uncomplicated work environment. Stable work thanks to the high percentage of healthcare clients. Good work life balance.

Inconvénients

High variation in project teams. Some run more smoothly than others.
