Avantages
I have nothing positive to say about working for this company.
Inconvénients
During my almost 8 years of working for Bar Harbor, the chain of command for which I reported to changed over 5 times while my position did not change.
The people they put in supervisory positions were not cut out to manage other people. I had a supervisor with zero people skills who felt that they needed to babysit every task I did. The person that ran the department had no backbone to advocate for their team with leadership and did not hold anyone who wasn’t meeting standards accountable.
There was a huge divide between NH/VT and ME employees. I joined the company after Lake Sunapee and Charter Trust were acquired and there was an obvious inequality between how the original Bar Harbor employees were treated and included versus how the Lake Sunapee/Charter Trust was.
There was no effort to bring together the different business lines. We had no idea what other departments did, the product offerings, etc.
The pay and benefits were abysmal. As a single person, living alone, the amount of money I made working here was not enough to cover even the basics. The duration of my employment, I had to work multiple jobs, at one point working full time for Bar Harbor during the day and working a second full time job in the evenings.
There were also years where I received zero raise or bonus with no indication that I was not meeting expectations for my position as I would just not have an annual review those years.
