Hard to get a raise. They prefer to offer alternative means of compensation like submitting your name as an employee that went above and beyond so you get a gift card as a reward.

low pay, benefits expensive and not very good. PTO was low. Benefits included paid holidays but my contract was at a university and a lot of holidays did not count, including Juneteenth and Martin Luther King day. Also had to use PTO during winter break, which ate up most of my PTO every year.
