Avantages

Salary better than most competitors, offices are nice, some decent benefits.

Inconvénients

-Very political and "cold", lots of back-biting. -Processes take a long time (training, for one). -Certain political players get all the good work and perks. Not good if not into politics - made me sick to see. -They retain poisonous employees who are either no good at their job, sow seeds of discord, or are very adept at playing the political game. Definitely favouritism. -Offices, while nice, are often lacking atmosphere. -Too many trying to climb the greasy pole. -Lack of communication in some offices. -Munich & Austrian offices over-worked. -Project management office treats you like a number. -Reverence for 'top designers' but couldn't see why; I saw several design flaws I would have changed. -Lack of interesting work for apps, design, and possibly other functions - heard this was particularly bad at Edinburgh site but can't confirm. -Analogue & Digital design was almost non-existent - across sites there is a lot of grumbling about designers being used only for verification purposes; design skills die out over time so not a good situation for the employee. -Personally, I left one of the German offices after just over a year for a LOWER salary at another company in Austria, but I'm getting better experience which will be of benefit in the long-run. Turns out money isn't everything.

Avantages

This is specifically for the Campbell office which formerly was the iWatt acquisition. The technical team is very strong, highly respected and dominates decision making(instead of finance or marketing ), so it is good if u are an engineer wanting to do some real technical work. The Campbell office is small people works tightly together and the system and design team talks every hour or so, which is very different from other semiconductor design. Most people are nice and respectful. Pace is fast(consumer products)and engineers are always engaged or u will be quickly neglected and ignored. Collaboration with UK and other sites are there in terms of methodology sharing only so not a whole lot of early morning meetings, but frequently will be late afternoon meetings even on Fridays with Asia team. Dinner provided and free snacks and soda, free bagels Monday. There are volunteer opportunities and team building events, not excessive. Senior management had some creative acquisitions to survive which I considered brilliant, and has a mostly handoff approach to this particular design center.

Inconvénients

Seldom allowed to work from home due to the lab nature of most of the work. Pace is intense. Late night email(11pm) exchanges are common especially a few bad apples seem to enjoy that to discuss general technical issues. Not culturally diverse and mostly speak mandarin. Strong sense of inner circle mentality certain alma matters and ex colleagues. Weak compensation, even with good reviews RSU or extra bonus are not common. Very high turnover esp. the younger guys.
