Inconvénients
This job is honestly grueling. There is no work/life balance, you're constantly understaffed and overrun by patients. They are so concerned about wait times due to the MOH and they ask for numbers in order to cheat through your waiting time. The stress is unbelievable. They hire alot of incompetent workers who don't care about their jobs and that don't seem to understand or even acknowledge that you're dealing with someone's life. For example: - I've seen quite a few workers use a discard tube for blood cultures - I've seen people use an SST as a discard for a Sodium Citrate when using a butterfly - Reqs are entered poorly with wrong codes being used every day - Memos are not read, only signed off on - SOPs are not followed - I've heard alot of "who cares", "I don't care", and "I'm not going to do that" - Staff members talk crap about you behind your back whilst in the same room - People despise you for actually caring and doing your job properly and calling them out on their wrong doings The pay at this company is pathetic. When I started after getting honours in my program, my wage was $17.50/hour with no increase. The starting wage has now "increased" to $19.50/hour with only a 2% raise yearly. We only got this increase and retro pay due to fighting Dynacare alongside our union. Dynacare outright refused to match our wages with Lifelabs even though we do the exact same job.
