Avantages
It is full time and stable work. Beyond that, there is not much to say. They will get you your PERC card for free.
Inconvénients
There is ineptness abound within the company. This company was just sued and found guilty of not paying vacations to their employees and are attempting to weasel out of paying current employees their due vacations. They are attempting to find ways to no not pay for my tuition reimbursement. I was harassed by two people while working for this company; one was a fellow employee who was sexually harassing me and another was a client employee who was stalking me and GuardsMark did nothing both times until I started calling employment hotlines regarding such things. There are no pay raises, but, there is favoritism abound. So, if you become one of the favorites, you are in a good place. The health insurance is terrible. At $10.50 an hour, my insurance costs $2000 a year. It doesn't cover optometry visits. When you do go in to the dentist, or doctor the bills are enormous, even for routine checkups. As far as coworkers, that is hit and miss. they range from lazy bums, to overly ambitious. They also vary from being very unintelligent to being far too intelligent for the positions here. Combine the two and you don't know what you're going to get. I've worked for the TSA and for the Census Bureau which aren't great, but, are leagues - light years - better than this company in so many ways. This company encourages new hires to 'cheat' on exams to get their PERC card, new hires can copy off one another and when their test results come back less than 100%, they are given the answers. At the same time, the company prides itself on integrity and honesty. The company demands the highest levels of integrity and honesty it's employees while being sued and doing other unscrupulous things. I was also blamed for doing stuff by the client on a couple of occasions, when, in fact, video evidence shows the exact opposite. GuardsMark does not back it's employees and always sides with its clients. There is a complete lack of communication and clarity within the company. With exception to a couple gems, what comes down or gets sent out to employees, if it is sent at all, is often unclear and not even 'half an effort'. Few people care around here, so, what information is give is so unintelligible, it doesn't surprise me that this company looses so many contracts.
