Avoid at all costs - Avis employé Staff Accountant HTP

I don't even know where to begin - let's start with turnover. Within 90 days of my acceptance of the position +80% of the finance department had resigned. After less than 5 months of employment I was the most tenured employee in the department. There are no SOP's. The CEO - who claims to be a CPA (he literally worked for Arthur Andersen in Texas during the 1980's - you can't make this up) - has no idea about double-entry bookkeeping. I constantly heard him making dogwhistle racist statements & "hillarious" quips like "the beatings will continue until the morale improves". Very few employees openly enjoy their work, so be prepared to take verbal abuse from much of the company. My analysis is that big egos and the avoidance of punishment drive the motivation for working at HTP - because it sure as heck isn't people enjoying their job. You will be yelled at and demeaned. HTP is in the middle of selling the business, so top-mgmt is busy counting the bill of sale and doesn't give a heck about employees satisfaction or career growth. Long term planning of the department objectives is more of a hypothetical pipedream than reality - you are constantly busy extinguishing fires. Oh - and the A/P department had no idea about Positive Pay fraud detection and is probably having a blast with the 2019 year-end financial audit as I type this.
