Avantages
Halma has about 35 companies located in North American, Europe and Asia. Their headquarters is located in the UK. Their largest North American companies include Ocean Optics, BEA and Halma's Elevator Safety Group. They give each company a lot of autonomy. If the management within the particular company is good, then you'll enjoy the experience. It is not overly political. Their executive and management training courses (HEDP, HMDP) are excellent, if you can get into the programs. The upper management in the UK is good. There sometimes seems to be some minor political issues between the various DCEs (Div Chief Execs), but that does not seem to impact the companies. People tend to stay with Halma or the group companies for a long time. Turnover is generally low, which is a good sign.
Inconvénients
Very decentralized organization. The corporate culture can vary quite a bit from company to company. Development budgets within some of the smaller companies are not large, but they all seem to get things done. Top management is very UK centric and all male. They could promote more American and Asian DCEs and more women. This isn't a huge issue.... minor comment.
