Avantages
The environment is positive and can be observed in the everyday exchanges among employees. There is still a good work / life balance and the organization is making a real contribution to the world of technology. I enjoy my job and sense that I make a contribution. Compensation is good for a non-profit and benefits are also good. Current leadership is driving an effective agenda of improved financial performance.
Inconvénients
The volunteer organization creates an uncollaborative environment at the senior levels and the organization accepts this state of affairs. Rumors continue that volunteers can get you fired. There are employees not pulling their weight around the organization and managers seem to ignore the issue. This creates an overall culture of average performance. In recent years, the rug has been pulled out from under HR by senior leadership and they have difficulty making the impact that they have in past years. Annual changes in volunteer leadership drives new strategies every year that are not productive and in some cases quite amusing.
