Avantages

Health benefits are respectable. The plans and provider allowed me and my family to capitalize on quality treatment and care. I discovered a myriad of other benefits, like discounts in retail and services using your company log in, and discounts in other health services and apps. There are roles that go beyond your linear path. Anything you want to get into, there is an opportunity to attain it. Using the online portal and internal systems, you can search and find anything, anywhere. It's exciting to think about where you can literally go.

Inconvénients

Culture: There is a lack of respect and major disconnect from management to staff and field workers. It's a constant battle, almost superiority, reigning down from administration to field techs. What's more alarming is how overt and blatant it is within management, as if it's natural and beyond remediation. Criticism is rampant and like high school hallways, your name is being mentioned as soon as you exit a room or turn a corner. The sense of entitlement, insecurities, and passive aggressiveness from grown 40 and 50 something year olds, leaves anyone simply attempting to do their job, reluctant and alienated. If you need any support, you'll be sure to find those in power huddling in an office or brazenly on the floor, discussing vacations and family hijinks. Procedures change on almost a weekly basis, adding to the difficulty and strain in building a rapport between field workers and office staff. Whatever it is, keep it to yourself because you're an immediate threat if you voice any concern. Johnson Controls management is devoid of organic and sincere leadership, defining it with hitting numbers and unattainable KPIs that nobody can seem to agree with. Balance & Comms: Taking time off comes at the cost of shame and uphill battles. Unless you're part of the in-crowd, you're made to feel weak or selfish when following company guidelines and submitting time off. Johnson Controls robs you of your privacy, and will leave you no choice but to divulge personal details to add weight to your time off request, in hopes you receive approval. The onus is solely on the employee. Submitting time off well in advance almost works against you because it forces you to constantly remind management, following up with emails, hoping to receive a curt and begrudging approval. If you make a mistake, it's shared among everyone. If you find a mistake, you're not a team player. Summary: You're a spoke within a wheel, and expendable. It's easier and cleaner for them to replace instead of resolve. They do a fantastic job of gaslighting, and JCI will make you feel like you're the problem and it's not systemic. They'll patronize, placate, and ultimately dismiss. "If we ignore it long enough, it'll go away" is the type of attitude they have. That attitude stretches far beyond your local office, but to upper management, too. You are on your own. Do your job, keep your mouth shut, and comply. It's not hyperbolic editorializing to call Johnson Controls a somewhat dictatorship when it is by definition. One can't help but feel that people are not only aware of the poisonous personalities, but look at it as a rite of passage. "If you can handle it." "It's part of the job." "It was even worse when I started." "You have to figure out if it's something you can deal with." These are comments personally made to me, and the tip of the iceberg.

Avantages

Decent pay, good PTO and benefits

Inconvénients

Everything else. ZERO training. They hand you a laptop (which is garbage) and say good luck. There is no "team." Everyone is on their own. The senior techs all reached their peak 20 years ago and don't even know what BACnet is. The bureaucracy is unbearable. Ordering a simple part is nearly impossible. There are so many apps you have to check in on everyday and they care more about those metrics than they care about the service their customers are receiving. If you want to get your butt kicked everyday with zero support at a company that specializes in taking advantage of their customers, this is the job for you.
