The people in the plant where I worked always did their best.

In my four years at Kane, my position changed twice and those changes resulted in me making less each year. Be cautious accepting position changes within the organization. They are a unique company in that they manufacturer building materials for construction sites so they have great potential to include their employees in the progress of the job sites they're on to generate a sense of teamwork! They struggle with communication between departments. They do not have a strategic plan, but could benefit greatly from one. There is a lot of turnover. I am accustomed to operating under some standards of operation or parameters and exceptions are held up for review. That's not how things are at Kane. Lack of consistency. When I first started I was told that they tend to fly by the seat of their pants but wanted to change. Every process or continuous improvement person hired never lasted long. I most enjoyed my time in Estimating. I learned so much from their Sr. Estimator and the other estimators as well as their engineers. Their lives could be so much easier with some processes in place.

Pay was not bad for the area.

Amount of PTO and the truly horrible benefits outweigh any amount of salary. Ownership & High level management is absent and not reactive to the real problems. Local management doesn't really deal with shortcomings and ignores the recommendations of employees for basic improvements in workflow and efficiency. There is a bonus system that is attached to KPI factors that cannot be controlled by the employees.
