Avantages
Get to work on space robots - no doubt that that is pretty cool in itself. Low pressure work environment
Inconvénients
- Low salary (was already low a few years ago, and now with no tracking of inflation it's not even in the same ballpark as the industry standard) - Treated like a child - manager will monitor you to make sure you're coming to the office (which by the way is in the middle of nowhere and almost everyone has a massive commute) - Despite the CEO outwardly making claims about MDA's technical innovation (e.g. in regards to things like AI), the actual internal technical vision for the company is basically to lean on our past successes (Canadarm2) - the attitude of every technical leader who has been around for a while is "if it ain't broke don't fix it". While this attitude does often makes practical sense, it means it's pretty unlikely that new engineers will get to really innovate or build things that are truly novel. Furthermore this makes me pretty concerned that MDA will eventually get left behind. The robotics industry at large is advancing at an incredible pace and we're pretty much sitting here trying to sell 1998 technology.
