Avantages

Magic is a good entry point for people looking to break into the virtual assistant industry, especially those without prior remote work experience. The company provides opportunities to work with international clients and gain hands-on experience in different fields such as customer support and eCommerce. The remote setup also offers flexibility, and during my time there I was able to build valuable long-term experience with my client.

Inconvénients

One of the biggest issues I experienced was the lack of transparency and support when employment ended. I was let go after nearly three years despite consistently receiving positive feedback from both my client and Magic, with no prior performance improvement plan or indication that my role was at risk. After separation, there was also little to no effort made to help place me with another client, despite the company positioning itself as a talent network. It felt more like once a client relationship ends, the assistant is left entirely on their own. Benefits are also extremely limited since they are dependent on the client rather than the agency itself, meaning there is often no paid leave, sick leave, or holiday pay. Additionally, the quality of support from assigned account leads can vary significantly, and in my experience, there was little advocacy or career support provided.
